NU NU NU news news news Official Alumni Newsletter of Nu Chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc. Spring 2016 I 've been fairly busy since the last newsletter mailed in September. Here are a few things that have come to my attention: Project Updates The convection oven in the kitchen threw a shoe this fall and had to be repaired. We also had the gutters and downspouts cleaned before the rains came. Fall Semester Grades The chapter made us all proud, yet again. The undergraduates earned a 3.41 GPA. They continue to rank among the top chapters on the Hill. Terrific job, guys! They make us all wish we'd done as well when we were in the chapter house. Continuing Saga The university is continuing its program to decrease the incidence of sexual assaults, a laudable pursuit. In its zeal, however, it is proposing some changes that will affect Nu Chapter, as well as all other fraternities on the Hill, namely restrictions on recruiting and pledging and the requirement that all freshmen live in dorms. The major fraternities have formed a coalition to resist these changes. The Kansas Fraternity Landlords League (KFLL) is meeting monthly to coordinate these efforts. In addition to working with officials at KU, KFLL is reaching out to the North-American Interfraternity Conference, congressmen, and alumni to solicit help in convincing the university that these changes are unnecessary. I'll keep you apprised of our progress as we work our way through the issue. Call for Nominations Due to a couple of at-large board members being elected to officer positions, we now have opportunities available for some new blood on the House Corporation. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else, please send the names to me. Before you nominate another person, please confirm with them that they would be willing to serve. I look forward to having new people step up to further the goals of Nu Chapter. Save the Date The spring alumni meeting is scheduled for April 23. As in the past, that is also the weekend of the KU Relays. Please plan to attend and visit the chapter house, meet the outstanding young men of Sigma Nu, and reminisce with your pledge brothers, who you will encourage to attend, too.
