KAPPA KAPPA GAMMA 3 A s we begin the spring semester at the University of Kentucky, the women of Beta Chi are extremely happy to be back on campus. It is always an exciting time to be members of Kappa Kappa Gamma and we are looking forward to the many sisterhood events and service opportunities we have planned this semester. In addition to our participation in KKΓ, we are extremely involved on and off campus. We have countless members who hold leadership positions in various organizations and who are focused on making a difference in the Lexington community. BETA CHI RANKED THIRD IN ACADEMICS During the fall 2015 semester, we were able to raise our chapter GPA from a 3.37 to a 3.46. This ranks us third out of the 14 sororities on UK's campus, and is a huge improvement from our previous ranking of sixth place. According to Vice President of Academic Excellence Rachel Sunderlin '14, "We worked hard to help sisters stay on top of their school work and can't wait to continue moving up in academics." CHAPTER PREPARES FOR KAPPA BOWL Our new philanthropy chairman, Julia Harold '14, jumped into planning Beta Chi's spring philanthropy event, Kappa Bowl, with the men of Kappa Alpha. She is preparing by getting the fields reserved and spreading the word around campus for Greek and non-Greek teams to sign up for the bubble ball soccer competition. The event will benefit Reading Is Fundamental. MEMBERS RAISE MORE THAN $23,000 FOR DANCEBLUE We had 30 sisters participate in DanceBlue in February, a student-run 24-hour dance marathon benefitting the DanceBlue Kentucky Children's Hospital Oncology Clinic. Beta Chi was able to raise more than $23,000 that will directly impact the children fighting cancer on UK's campus. Ashley Klaserner '12, the team captain, said, "I could not have been more proud than when I watched these women on the dance floor take a stand against pediatric cancer, and though they were exhausted and sore, these women never complained." ALUMNAE TEA PLANNED FOR APRIL 24 Honour McDaniel '15 is busy planning the Alumnae Tea that will be on April 24 with Education Chairman Amanda Randall '14. This event will allow the seniors to begin their transition to alumnae. The annual Mother- Daughter Tea will be on April 16 at the chapter house, hosted by Public Relations Chairman Alli Keeler '13. We cannot wait to host our parents and alumnae to show them how our chapter has grown since last year. ALUMNAE, COME VISIT 238 E. MAXWELL ST. We are excited for the many opportunities ahead for Beta Chi and will be working hard to achieve our goals. We appreciate everything that you do for our chapter and would enjoy being able to recognize our wonderful alumnae for your continued passion and support.
