Brothers Focus on Academics, Philanthropic Efforts $5,000 Raised at 55th Annual Chicken Benefit Dinner T he fall semester was extremely successful for the Chapter. First, we worked incredibly hard this year at Greek Week and placed third overall. We also had our 55th annual Chicken Benefit Dinner in November and it was an incredible success thanks to our former High Theta, Robby Carmody '17. We raised about $5,000 dollars, which we donated to our local charities, The Gingerbread House and Choices for People. Last fall, we also did a one-semester initiation for our associates. We welcomed 14 new brothers into our brotherhood in November. As always, grades are one of our top priorities at the Chapter, and thanks to former High Sigma Ryan Kniepmann '16 and his academic plan, we received a house GPA of 3.19. In the past four years we've increased our GPA by 0.3 through all of the brothers' hard work. This semester, Ryan will is studying abroad in Munich, Germany, and Chris Sheffield '18 is studying in Tokyo. We wish them the best of luck. Spring Recruitment Off to a Great Start Spring semester is here and that means important events are coming up for the brothers at Missouri S&T; most importantly is the start of the recruitment season. We have high hopes for Nathan Vitek '18, our new recruitment chairman. He is working very hard to update our board and brochures, among other tasks. We already have one new associate for the spring semester, Brendan McGrellis, and several other students interested in joining. Soon we will be sending out a brochure to graduating high school students who have been accepted to MS&T, as well as those with an ACT score of 29 or higher, to promote the chapter and our scholarship. We hope to continually improve our recruitment efforts and recruit quality men for our brotherhood. Of course, recruitment wouldn't be as successful without the support of our generous alumni brothers who are always willing to help fund recruitment dinners, mailings, and volunteer their time to help to grow our brotherhood. If you are interested in becoming more involved, please contact Nathan at (816) 352-2433 or navp63@mst.edu. Philanthropic Events Planned On the philanthropic side of our Chapter, our new High Theta, Patrick Coday '18, has a lot of great ideas for the spring to get the Chapter more involved in Feeding America, our national philanthropy, as well as bringing back the classic Lambda Chi Watermelon Bash toward the end of the semester. Patrick has also set up our first service day at Rolla High School with Kappa Delta, where we assisted a wrestling tournament. We look forward to all of his plans. I have seen enormous improvements across the board in the past four years I have been in this Fraternity. With another year gone, we continue to motivate our members to keep improving and to carry us through another year. We are grateful for the campaign for a new home, and look forward to our rapidly approaching 100-year celebration.
