This recipe for ham- burger soup is from the Pi- oneerWoman.com/cooking. 2 pounds ground chuck 1 whole large onion, diced 2 stalks celery, diced 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 can (14.5 ounces) whole tomatoes 3 cups beef stock or beef broth, plus more as needed 1 whole yellow bell pep- per, seeded and diced 1 whole red bell pepper, seeded and diced 1 whole green bell pep- per, seeded and diced 4 whole carrots, peeled and sliced on the diagonal 5 whole red potatoes, cut into chunks 3 tablespoons tomato paste teaspoon salt, (more to taste) teaspoon black pepper, more to taste 2 teaspoons dried pars- ley flakes teaspoon ground oreg- ano teaspoon cayenne pep- per (more to taste) In a large pot over me- dium — high heat, brown the meat with the onion, celery, and garlic. Remove the pot from the heat and drain off as much fat as you can. Discard the fat once it cools. Return the pot to the heat and add the rest of the ingredients. Stir to combine, then bring to a boil. Reduce the heat, then cover the pot and simmer the soup for 15 — 20 more minutes, until potatoes are tender, but not overly mushy. Soup should be some- what thick, but if you'd like it to be more soupy, add 1 to 2 cups more broth or hot water and heat through. Taste and adjust season- ings, adding more salt if needed. Makes 12 servings. Prep- aration time 15 minutes. Cook time 30 minutes. An estimated $250in fuel was taken and a welder may have been taken. No suspects or leads. 100block of Gilmore Road: A man reported Monday that the back win- dow to his vehicle has been broken. He reported that the window appeared to be shot at by a BB gun but is unsure if that is the cause. An estimated replacement value is about $150. Antelope Boulevard at the Sacramento River Bridge: About 1:44p.m. Monday a man was report- edly trying to jump off the bridge and was yelling at people who were walking towards Denny's. Officers responded and James Robert Hardesty, 47, of Red Bluff was arrested and booked on the charge of public intoxication. What started as a small 4-H project in 2009 has grown into a popular an- nual event in the north state to benefit the Amer- ican Cancer Society. The 2015 Event brought about 250 riders. Since the begin- ning some $196,492 has been donated to the Amer- ican Cancer Society to as- sist in the fight against cancer and finding a cure.
