"Weholdthiseventtocelebrate arts in Tehama County." —KimDunn,EducationalSupportServiceprogramassistant By Heather Hoelscher hhoelscher@redbluffdailynews.com @DN_Heather on Twitter REDBLUFF TheTehamaCountyBoardofEduca- tion accepted the resignation, effective Feb. 29, of Superintendent of Schools Charles Allen Monday at a special meeting held at the Tehama County Department of Education library. There was no decision made as to who will replace Allen. The board decided to bring the matter back for discussion at the next regularly scheduled meeting at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17. Since it is the job of the board to appoint some- one for the position, instead of an election the board decided more time was needed to make that decision. Board member Tim Morehouse suggested the delay will give the public more time to speak on the matter. Many residents did speak out at the meeting for Harley North, Allen's opponent in the 2014 election, to take over the position for the remain- ing three years of Allen's term. Board members Carolyn Steffan and More- house were appointed to work on a job descrip- tion for the position. This gives the board the op- portunity to make sure all voices are heard on the matter and to look for other qualified appli- cants to apply for the position, Morehouse said. Morehouse said he plans to post a survey for the residents of Tehama County to voice their opinions. At the next regular meeting Steffan and More- house will present their findings, with the con- sideration of the public comments at the special meeting, from the survey and letters presented to the board. TEHAMA COUNTY Schools chief resigns toppost By Julie Pace and Kathleen Ronayne The Associated Press MANCHESTER, N.H. Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Bernie Sanders rode a wave of voter frustration with American politics to com- manding victories in Tuesday's New Hampshire primaries, adding crucial credibility to their up- start candidacies. Sanders swept majorities of men, women, inde- pendents and young people in his win over Hill- ary Clinton, but faces challenges in the more di- verse states that come next on the primary cal- endar. Trump, appealing to voters seeking a political outsider, he could benefit from the per- sistent lack of clarity among the more main- stream Republicans struggling to challenge him. "We are going to do something so good and so fast and so strong and the world is going to re- spect us again, believe me," Trump said at a vic- tory rally.
