She has been at WhiteStone since 1978. Two of her children lived at the Home in the 1990s. Corinthian 542 was holding a skeet shoot October 17. e Rainbow Girls were selling baked goods, and the lodge was raffling a shotgun. ere were youth trophies for boys and girls. e event benefited Masonic charities. — Shane McGee For the past few years, Greensboro 76 has thanked first responders with a special luncheon. is year, they had it September 19. From 11:00 a.m. un- til 1:00 p.m. that Saturday, they fed emergency medical personnel, police, and firefighters at the lodge. ey were cooking hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, desserts, and drinks. — Phillip Bialek Guilford 656 had a charity mo- torcycle ride planned for October 24. ey were raising money for the NC Masonic Foundation and Peacehaven Community Farm. e Farm is a Guil- ford County nonprofit "sustainable community farm that provides vocation and residence opportunities for special needs adults." Guilford Lodge's Ladies' Night and Awards Dinner was held October 17. ey were enjoying London broil and chicken Florentine in the fellowship hall at WhiteStone. — Chester Holder Gate City 694 is one busy lodge. Eleven of their members executed their Adopt-A-Street pickup August 15. September brought them a meeting in the fellowship hall at WhiteStone (Sep- tember 8), helping with cleanup and stump removal at WhiteStone (Sep- tember 12), and their Annual Fish Fry in the Temple dining hall (September 26). ey were having their Ladies' Night October 17. November was bringing a fundraiser, likely a steak dinner. — Trestleboard Graham omas M. Holt 492 held a Pink Pancake Breakfast and Dinner on Oc- tober 3. Pink? at's because the pro- ceeds were going to Alamance County's Pink Ribbon Foundation to help fight breast cancer. Holt Lodge was cooking again No- vember 14. is time it was pork shoul- ders ($45) and Boston butts ($25). — Todd Smith Pittsboro Columbus 102 presented their Fifth Annual Columbus Lodge Day, Car Show, Rib Fest, and Family Fun on October 3. Car Show participants paid entry fees so spectators got to see for free. Rib Fest tickets were ten dollars. e food, cars, music, and chil- dren's activities raised money for our Masonic Homes. — Columbus Lodge Highlands Blue Ridge 435 was having their lodge picnic on September 12. e lodge was furnishing meat and drinks. Members were bringing side dishes. Forty members and their families at- tended despite chilly weather. On September 17, they awarded the prize in their rifle raffle. — Trestleboard and Gordon Jolly Asheville Scottish Rite Journal Editor S. Brent Morris spoke at Mount Hermon 118 on October 1. Morris was first made a Ma- son in Durham 352 during his graduate student days at Duke University. — Terry Gevedon Grand Master Douglas Caudle pre- sented Veritas 769's charter October 7. — Terry Gevedon Salisbury Sophia 767 had visiting lecturer Steve Barrell on October 28. He joined them to speak on "Immortal Remains: e Point in the Circle" about the tran- scendency of human consciousness. Barrell is a member of Moasic 762 and State College UD. — Doug Calhoun Wilkesboro e third Annual Cruise in for Charity was held here September 19. All types of vehicles were welcome and got to compete for prizes and awards. NC Masonic Pig Jig Grand Champi- ons Branch Water Bath Tub crew were preparing the barbecue for the event. Money raised went to WhiteStone and the Home for Children. — Josh McMillan Hope Mills Grand Master Douglas L. Caudle visited Lebanon 391 in September to present a trophy to the officers of the lodge. It was their prize for winning the Grand Lodge Ritual Competition earlier in June. ey won in the lodge officer division and exemplified the En- tered Apprentice Degree. Lebanon 391 had a very successful year. ey had a gun raffle and a suc- cessful golf tournament. ey built a wheelchair ramp and cleaned up some local properties for neighbors. ey par- ticipated in the town's Memorial Day wreath-laying and sent a large contin- gent to the Home for Children's land- scaping day. — 17 th Masonic District Pineville James K. Polk 759 fed the home- less in the fall. ey had a fish fry for more than 80 homeless people in as- sociation with the McCreesh House in North Charlotte. ey were also planning their first Brunswick Stew Fundraiser for the Masonic Home for Children. — Randy Richardson Blood drive down east WINDSOR — Charity Lodge 5 sponsored a blood drive at the Windsor Com- munity Building Saturday, August 1. You can see there was a healthy turnout of vol- unteers for a lodge with fewer than 50 members. — Miles Davis Charlotte Phalanx 31 held the 24 th Annual Cletus O. Fulp Barbecue on October 31. e sale's proceeds are for Masonic charities. ey offered sandwiches or plates, dine-in or take-out. — Mike Hamrick Derita 715 drew the five winners of their gun raffle September 18. ey were raising money for the Masonic Home for Children in Oxford. — Jay Frechette Benson Relief 431 was participating in com- munity celebrations lately. ey had a Veterans' Day meal on November 10 before their stated communication. If you're from Johnston County, you know about Mule Days, a huge animal celebration held annually in Benson. Relief Lodge wisely held their Pan- cake and Sausage Breakfast during the town's yearly elevation to Mule Mecca. — Edward Franklin Olive and Matt Moore Southport Pythagoras 249 made a couple of community outreaches recently. ey donated $1,000 to the local Shop With a Cop Christmas program. ey have also established two $1,000 scholar- ships for college bound local students. ey will be for one girl and one boy at South Brunswick High School who will be judged on an essay. Skeeter Trott gave the lodge some historical mementoes, four mounted pictures of the lodge as it was used in World War I and World War II. e lodge, realizing the call of mod- ern computing and its necessity for good record keeping, recently bought laptop computers for the lodge secre- tary and treasurer. On November 20, Pythagoras Lodge held their Widows Appreciation and Awards Banquet. e lodge sponsored their Tenth Annual Golf Tournament September 19. More than 80 sponsored the sellout with 120 golfers. — Newsletter
