With the bike blender from OPT for Healthy Living in Chico, Antelope SERRF created delicious healthy smoothies. Students lined up for a chance to ride the bike and then drink their cre- ations. Ingredients included orange juice, yogurt, strawberries and bananas. In the picture SERRF staff cheers as Gabe Hale pedals to power the blender. Antelope SERRF encourages students to make healthy choices and stay active. Red Bluff Emblem Club is accepting applications for the Dorothy Minch Nursing Scholarship, provided by the Minch family in memory of their mother, a long time nurse in Tehama County and member of the club. Maywood Middle School held its annual GEAR UP March Madness Assembly on Friday, March 9 with guest speaker Geraud Moncure of channel 12/24 for his second year of speaking. This was the kick off assembly for the school's March Madness activities that gets Maywood students thinking about going to college. Each teacher is assigned a college to go with activities including some local colleges. Activities the classrooms do include a door decorating contest with The scholarship must be used in the same school year that it is received. Funds will be distributed in two payments of $1,500 at the beginning of each semester. The $3,000 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books and other college enrollment fees. Also present at the assembly was Cody Lane, the GEAR UP coordinator who is on site at Maywood Middle School this year in addition to Patricia Esparza who is the GEAR UP/Talent Search coordinator at Corning High School. Karlie enjoys playing field hockey, bas- ketball and softball. Her hobbies include sports and She participates in hunting. She plans to attend Chico State with a major in Kinesiology to become an Athletic Trainer, and contin- ue on to get a degree in Physical Therapy.
