2 ALPHA DELTA HILITES Always Supporting Alpha Delta Lori Hofsess Whitesides '07 Encourages Alumnae to Get Involved L ori Hofsess Whitesides '07 always knew Greek life was meant for her before arriving at the University of Missouri. She wanted the involvement, network, and friendships of a sorority; it was all a matter of finding the right home. For Lori, Gamma Phi Beta was the home she wanted. After falling in love with Alpha Delta Chapter during recruitment, Lori found a passion for the recruitment process. She served as a Pi Chi her junior year, vice president of recruitment for Panhellenic her senior year, and was a graduate assistant in the Office of Greek Life. "I've had just about every perspective on recruitment one could have," Lori said, "and I was absolutely in love with the process and tradition at Mizzou." Lori now serves as the recruitment advisor for Alpha Delta, using her wealth of recruitment knowledge to help the chapter continue to recruit the top women on campus. "After I graduated, I knew I wanted to be involved with recruitment in some form," Lori said. She encourages other alumnae to take on an advisory or mentorship role in the chapter. "The active members are so appreciative of the commitment and time spent with them. They like knowing that they have someone to lean on, and I think it helps them understand the lifetime commitment a little better," Lori said. Not only has Lori stayed connected to Gamma Phi Beta through her advisory role, but through her sisters and fellow alumnae as well. "We have a group of about 10 women that have stayed incredibly close, still taking yearly trips together," Lori said. Her membership in Alpha Delta Chapter and the relationships it helped her build profoundly impacted her college years, and helped shape the woman she is today. "Gamma Phi Beta gave me a solid group of friends and women I lean on for almost everything. It built me up and taught me to be a confident leader and how to stay involved. I think the sorority experience is irreplaceable and integral for growth during your young adult years." Lori married her husband, Corey, on June 6. They love spending time in Kansas City finding new restaurants and breweries, going to local events, and attending sporting events. They hold season tickets to the University of Missouri and love coming back to campus for football games. Lori works as a strategist at Cerner Corporation. Gamma Phi Beta excels in the Fall Alpha Delta Welcomes New Sisters and Executive Board F all is one of the hardest and busiest semesters for Alpha Delta, and even though it is a tough semester for everyone, we still manage to have fun. We were paired with Sigma Phi Epsilon for Homecoming this year and relaxed at Diosa, which is our two-night fall formal. This is our favorite date party of the year. After Diosa, we hosted our Founder's Day brunch on November 15 at the Marriott Courtyard. Alpha Delta would not be where we are today without the support of our alumnae! WELCOMING NEW GAMMA PHI BETAS Alpha Delta welcomed 90 new members and initiated them into our sisterhood on October 27. Despite the early morning wake-up calls and long nights of recruitment, it was a very rewarding week for everybody. We continue to show the new members how loving, strong, and passionate our sisterhood remains. For philanthropy weekend, we raised over $14,000 for Girls on the Run and Heart for Huntington's. Having our new members experience this event was something we will never forget. TRANSITIONING THE 2016 EXECUTIVE BOARD We are excited to announce that we have elected the new executive board for 2016. I have no doubt that they will continue to develop and grow our positions. I would like to thank the 2015 executive board; Lucia Brancato '13, Alex Rocos '13, Morgan Jacobs '13, Sydney Bates '13, Anna Pardee '13, and Taylor Cohen '13 have done an amazing job this year. They have implemented a lot of positive change for this chapter, which will hopefully last forever. This board has done its best to make an everlasting impact on Gamma Phi Beta. Our Alpha Deltas love giving tours, so please do not hesitate to stop by 808 Richmond!
