ByClayBailey TheAssociatedPress MEMPHIS, TENN. Stephen Curry scored 28 points and Andre Iguodala added 20 as the Golden State Warriors matched a franchise record for most wins to start a season with a 100-84 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednes- day night. Harrison Barnes added 19 points for Golden State, which won its ninth straight to open the season. Curry was 9 of 21 from the field, but only 3 of 10 from outside the arc. The War- riors finished shooting 41 per- cent from 3-point range, 11 of 27. Marc Gasol had 26 points, Zach Randolph added 19 and Tony Allen finished with 15 as the Grizzlies lost their fourth straight. The game was the first be- tween the teams since the War- riors defeated Memphis 119- 69 on Nov. 2, the worst loss in franchise history Memphis, which trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half, was able to fight its way back into the game by revert- ing to its offensive strength, going inside. By Josh Dubow The Associated Press ALAMEDA Since returning from the bye, the Oakland Raiders of- fense has been on a run this team hasn't seen in 20 years. With quarterback Derek Carr engineering an offense that in- cludes big-play receivers on the outside in Michael Crabtree and Amari Cooper, a danger- ous running game led by Lat- avius Murray and a strong of- fensive line, the Raiders have topped 34 points in three con- secutive games for the first time since 1995. Oakland could be in for a tough test this week against Min- nesota. The Vikings (6-2) are the only team not to allow more than 23 points in a game this season and the Raiders might need to end that streak without two key offensive players with Murray and center Rodney Hudson nurs- ing injuries that forced them to miss practice Wednesday. Of late, little has stood in Oak- land's way. The Raiders have scored 106 points the past three weeks in beating San Diego and the New York Jets and losing on a late field goal to Pittsburgh. But Carr feels there's even more the offense can do. THESCORE By Barry Wilner AP Pro Football Writer NEW YORK The three NFL cities in line to potentially lose their NFL teams to Los Angeles made thorough and impassioned pre- sentations to the league Wednes- day as a step toward keeping them. Officials from Oakland, San Diego and St. Louis spoke to the league's Los Angeles, stadium and finance committees — all three of which play some role in a poten- tial relocation. Oakland spoke first, and was followed by San Di- ego and then St. Louis. "This was an important day and the passion of the cities came through," NFL executive Eric Grubman said. "The fans spoke in a very powerful way (at public forums in late October) and this was the opportunity for city lead- ership to speak with the passion they have directly to the owners." The Raiders and Chargers have combined on a project in Carson that would cost about $1.78 bil- lion if approved by three-fourths of the 32 owners. Rams owner Stan Kroenke is pushing a rival project in nearby Inglewood. By Anne M. Peterson The Associated Press So, seventh-ranked Stanford looks like a lock for the Pac-12 North title, right? Not so fast. Oregon visits the Cardinal this weekend, and while the Ducks are underdogs, there's still a chance — albeit an improbable one — that they could defend their Pac- 12 championship. But there are a couple of moving parts. Here's the scenario: Oregon must beat Stanford then win its final two games against USC and Oregon State. The Ducks will also need the Cardinal to lose in the Big Game to Cal. Stanford, which finishes out the regular season with an out- of-conference game against Notre Dame, clinches the North out- right with a victory over Oregon on Saturday, and indeed, the Car- dinal (8-1, 7-0 Pac-12) are favored. But don't underestimate the Ducks. Quarterback Vernon Ad- ams Jr. is back after an early sea- son finger injury and Oregon (6- 3, 4-2) is riding a three-game win- ning streak while playing as well as it has all season. Oregon would no doubt like to turn the table on Stanford — which upset the Ducks in both COLLEGE FOOTBALL Race to Pac-12 title still not entirely clear with scenarios The New York attorney general's decision that daily fantasy sports betting sites FanDuel and Dra Kings are illegal gambling operations in his state is a major blow to the companies.
