T he next phase of our campaign is about to begin, and we need to have the support of every MO Alpha alumnus. Since the campaign was announced this spring, we have raised $283,898 and added 91 new donors to bring our total pledges to date to over $1,228,000. This is great progress, and we are very appreciative of everyone who has joined our growing list of donors as we march closer to our $1.5 million goal. However, there is still work to be done and money to be raised. $1.5 million is the minimum we need to receive financing to move forward with our current plans. Construction on the chapter house should begin in early winter 2016, as long as we raise our $1.5 million. We will share updates and photos of the construction with you in future publications. This is a critical phase in our campaign, and alumni support is more important than ever. Please help us achieve our goal if you have not already made a pledge. In order to encourage more brothers to get involved in the project, we are announcing a friendly competition—a graduation class participation challenge. If 146 more alumni step up and contribute, we will reach 25% participation and be well on our way to reaching our $1.5 million goal. The pledge class with the highest participation at the end of the challenge will win naming rights to a special room in the renovated chapter house. Think about how grateful you are for the strong bonds of brotherhood within your pledge class. You went through recruitment together, you graduated together, and now you have the opportunity to have your names listed on a plaque in the chapter house together. To see where your pledge class stands, please view the donor list on page 2. Right now, the classes of 1956 (67%), 1969 (57%) and 1967 and 1974 (both at 50%) are in the lead. Some of the classes with younger alums are lagging behind. To you we say, we know many of you are not in a financial position to make large commitments, with all the other obligations you have to family, kids, jobs, houses and so on – we understand. Nonetheless, we need whatever help it is possible for you to give and any sacrifices you can make to do so, however limited, is important and appreciated. We want you all to be a part of this effort and thank you in advance for joining with us in making the house a better place to be. We want every alumnus to look at the renovated chapter house and be proud knowing he had a hand in making it happen. Don't miss out on the opportunity to have a lasting effect on MO Alpha. Fill out the enclosed pledge card or visit www.moalpha.kintera.org/donate to make your gift online today. Remember, you can spread your gift of $500, $1,000, $2,500, or $5,000 over five years, making a manageable annual or monthly payment. This campaign represents the opportunity to preserve for future generations the incredible 150-year legacy of MO Alpha. It is time to join together; our goal is achievable and within sight. I ask that all MO Alpha Phi Delts make a pledge today. Thank you all very much. "Phi Delt had a good reputation in Moberly, Missouri, where I grew up. Phi Delt was the only choice for me." His father, Charles Carter '42, was a Phi Delt until he was drafted into the Marines; his younger brother, Dan Car- ter '88, was initiated three years after John; and his nephew, Adam Carter '02, was initiated 15 years ago. John's time in the lodge gave him the opportu- nity to create great friendships with his broth- ers, and introduced him to the importance of networking. In fact, his first job interview was successful because the hiring manager was a Phi from Kansas! Today, John works at Nationwide Insurance in Columbus, Ohio, a Fortune 100 company where he serves as president of the company's retirement plans business. The words he spoke during initiation have influenced John to give a gift to the Proud to be a Phi – Con- tinuing 150 Years of Tradi- tion campaign.
