3 SIGMA CHI SIGMA CHI SETS THE STANDARD FOR FRATERNITY MEN Epsilon Kappa Excels on Campus T his past semester has been very successful for our Chapter. It has been an honor to serve as Chapter president and work with such dedicated men. As the Chapter House renovations are wrapping up, we have been focusing on improving the overall quality of membership and increasing brotherhood involvement. This led to a successful recruitment of 27 new members, brothers pursuing leadership roles in our community, and setting the standard for fraternity men at the University of Memphis. Highest GPA among Fraternities Academically, we continue to excel. Our Chapter GPA stands at 3.22, well above the IFC average of 3.01. We were honored with the distinction of highest GPA amongst all fraternities for the sixth straight semester. Members Prioritize Campus Involvement Our members have been actively involved in the campus community. We have members who write for the campus newspaper, volunteer at the campus radio station, multiple emerging leaders and Tiger Elite, two members who are on the executive board for Up 'til Dawn, and morale captains for the same event. Making a Difference in the Community Sigma Chi members are also very focused on giving back to the Memphis community. While our Derby Days week moved to the spring in order to maximize our fundraising efforts, our Strike Out Cancer event, benefitting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, will be held on November 10. We are very excited for this event and invite alumni to join us in supporting this wonderful organization. Alumni Inspiration Night a Success On September 2, we held our alumni inspiration night. Its purpose is to strengthen our brotherhood while connecting the undergraduate members and alumni. Our keynote speaker, Neal Oldham '99, gave an address on "What is Sigma Chi?" Next year, parents and potential new members are welcome to attend and learn about Sigma Chi. As an executive board, our goal this semester is not only to strengthen our brotherhood, but also to get our members more involved throughout the Greek community and on campus. We see ourselves as a strong Chapter, but know that there is always room for improvement. As always, we are thankful to all of our alumni. We would not be where we are today without your support.
