The WISE OLD OWL Epsilon Kappa ChaptEr of sigma Chi fratErnity at thE UnivErsity of mEmphis Fall 2015 FEATURES: Renovation Celebration 2 • Sigma Chi Sets the Standard 3 • Alumnus Spotlight 4 EPSILON KAPPA INTERIOR RENOVATIONS COMPLETE Help Us Continue the Momentum I am happy to announce that we have completed the first major interior renovation of the Epsilon Kappa Chapter House since its construction in 2004. Our contractor has done a wonderful job of bringing the house back to excellent condition, and we are in the process of installing new furnishings. The exterior of the Chapter House is also being refreshed and a new security system has been installed. We are working with the Sigma Chi Foundation and the Kappa Alphas to formalize our property expansion to add additional parking and expand the circle driveway, as well as install irrigation and new landscaping. None of this would have been possible without the generosity of our alumni. Thank you for your contributions to this project. Our campaign has been very successful thus far, but we still need your help in reaching our $200,000 goal. To date, we have raised $171,200. The campaign will be continuing for a few more months and we hope you will consider making a contribution. Any amount is appreciated and will move us closer to our goal. There is not another Chapter in Sigma Chi more worthy of alumni support. Not only are we the top fraternity at the University of Memphis, but we are arguably the top Chapter in all of Sigma Chi. We have won more awards—local, regional, and national—than any other Sigma Chi Chapter. Please consider making a contribution and supporting our legacy. Epsilon Kappa Chapter is in an excellent position for the future. Our mortgage has been reduced and refinanced under excellent terms; the house corporation is on sound financial footing and continues to win national recognition, thanks to a strong and active board of directors; and our Chapter continues to grow with another outstanding new member class for fall 2015. We are on top, but I believe we can climb even higher. The real key for us to remain at the top is participation. We invite everyone to join us and get involved. Think about taking a turn on our board of directors—elections are in January 2016. We also have many events throughout the year for alumni to attend. I am so proud to be a part of this and I have yet to meet an alumnus who doesn't feel the same.
