Sigma Phi EPSilon C olorado Alpha has already started building off the successes of last year and the results of these efforts include our largest philanthropy yet, growing retention rates, improvement in our alumni relations, and a stronger presence in not only the Greek community, but the Boulder community as a whole. This semester is already providing opportunities for this Chapter to reach a new potential, and the brothers in Colorado Alpha refuse to let these opportunities fall by the wayside. Showing Our Support In the spring, Colorado Alpha organized, promoted, and executed our second annual philanthropy event. This year's SigEp Checking for Cancer raised nearly $20,000 for the Jimmy V Foundation to conduct cancer research. Not only were we able to host a successful philanthropy event, but we also solidified our growing positive image throughout our community. Spring Highlights Another highlight Colorado Alpha experienced during this spring semester was a remarkable finish in CU's Greek Week. SigEp, paired with Delta Gamma, competed in many events, bringing home a first-place finish in Songfest and a second-place overall finish. All of these accomplishments were accompanied by SigEp ranking above the CU all-men's average and within the top five fraternities in GPA. Connecting with Alumni This fall, we hosted our first alumni weekend. More than 20 alumni attended, with classes ranging from 1955 to 2015. Moreover, our Balanced Man Scholarship program during the weekend was a success. Our BMS team worked diligently throughout the summer and into the school year to find our worthy candidates. Through this program and our ongoing recruitment, Colorado Alpha has recently gained 39 new brothers. Improving the Chapter House Colorado Alpha has made many physical improvements to the house. Thanks to our AVC and our committed property manager, Allen Robie '82, our study has become a prestigious learning environment. With the addition of a custom grand conference table and brand new amenities, the study has been completely revamped, bringing brothers together into a common study environment. The Chapter House is filled to capacity with well-prepared, young emerging leaders with innovative ideas to ensure Colorado Alpha will be a commanding presence for years to come. I want to generally thank all of our alumni for the support and the unconditional brotherly love that has grown so much in the short few years I have been here. Fraternally, Dylan Shriner '17 Chapter President (720) 837-3097 dylan.shriner@colorado.edu Colorado Alpha at a paintball brotherhood event. Alumni and undergraduates participated in a softball game; alumni won the game 8-7. A Strong Start to Fall Colorado Alpha Builds off Spring Success Colorado Alpha spring new members.
