COPs delivers more than treats Quartzsite - COPs (Citizens On Patrol) Volunteers Marilyn McFate and Mary Ann Peck delivered Treats (no tricks) on the Monday before Hal- loween to shut-ins and community members. They would like to thank Quartzsite Police Dept. for all their support. The volunteers gave out over 100 bags of goodies again this year. COPs provide safety checks on seniors living alone or individuals who are unable to move about. The service is very well received by the com- munity and most people really appreciate knowing someone will check on their loved one and offer assistance if needed. During the summer, COPs volunteers also check on vacation homes. Citizen Patrol Volunteers become more familiar with their commu- nity and are better able to recognize "suspicious" activity and notify the authorities. In addition to wearing identifiable uniforms and driving in marked patrol cars, they also act as "Eyes and Ears" for local law enforce- ment. "Dear Quartzsite Community Members; The status of the Health and Development Services Municipal Board is an important issue to me and for that reason I asked that it be put on the Town Council's agenda for the meeting of October 26,2015. "Town Manager Miller did place the item on the agenda; however it did not appear on the amended agenda because a Council Member will be absent to take care of a fam- ily matter. "I have asked Town Manager Miller to place the item on the agenda for the next Council meet- ing scheduled for November 10, 2015, so that the full Council may discuss this matter openly."
