After returning from a solid spring semester that featured a successful philanthropy and community service event, our guys are itching to do what they can to take our chapter to the next level. We have brought in 36 new members from all over the Midwest and even some from the coast. Academic Suites Conducive for Studying We opened this semester with a motivational retreat led by Regional Director Matt Huggins and Chapter Services Director Logan Fletcher. There, we recapped the spring and identified areas of focus for the upcoming semester. We are continuing our primary goal of acquiring an academic achievement banner. To this end, we converted our eight-man rooms into six- man rooms that feature an academic suite. Outside of the classroom we look to build our relationship with the local Big Brothers Big Sisters Foundation. They were blown away by our donation from our SigEp Super Saturday event last spring and are excited to work with us (and we are thrilled to continue working with them!). We are planning a Thanksgiving service event with BBBS. Ideas stemmed from an executive board meeting that we were honored to have two past Grand Presidents attend, Missouri Alpha's own John Hartman '61 and Dennis Bond '69. Alumni Welcomed on Football Weekends Our intramural football and volleyball teams are off to solid starts after taking home the overall championships last fall. The fall formal is headed back to Nashville, where we will stay at the Gaylord Opry Hotel, the same hotel where the 54th Grand Chapter Conclave was held this summer. And don't forget about tailgate season! The Tigers are off to a slow start, but that doesn't slow down the events at 405 Kentucky on game day. Win or lose, the parking lot is full of familiar faces enjoying the great atmosphere of the SEC. (Please feel free to get ahold of me to reserve a spot in the parking lot on game days.) Homecoming Activities Complete Last, but certainly not least, another Homecoming is in the books. We were paired with the women of Gamma Phi Beta with the theme of athlete. Our float featured a model of the stadium and a theatre performance centered on some of television's funniest athletes. We were not able to keep the placement streak alive, but we had an absolute blast this fall regardless. As always, we could not continue to operate without the selfless dedication from our alumni: Dave LaRusso '76, John Hartman, Mark Merlotti '78, John Hopson, and many others who continue to sacrifice their free time to help improve our fraternity. We cannot thank them enough! As I transition out of office, I would like to thank everyone for their support, helping make this experience truly incredible for me.
