MU MESSENGER 3 While serving us well these past 80+ years, we are out of space to meet the needs of 320-plus women in the chapter and the 21st century way of Greek life at Mizzou. This August we shared a 3-D rendering with the chapter so they could finally really see what their new home will look like and how it will function for everyone. They communicated this well at recruitment and we gained a great new member class of 86 women. We now will meet all our "must haves" with housing for 90 young women under one roof, dining for over 140 (or everyone with two sittings), a grand entrance off 900 S. Providence with a staircase for all the dazzling pictures, a formal living room, a casual living room and the Heritage Room as we all remember. And most importantly, and what we do not have now, a chapter room for over 300 members! The new chapter house will have study areas, work areas and welcoming spaces so that all DGs will have a home on the campus for years of sisterhood events. This plan more than doubles our current square footage. What about the building year? House corporation is working closely with the collegiate officers and advisors to plan for all their needs. This year's new member class is very excited as they will have enough apartments at Brookside Midtown (100-140 rooms as needed) to live together next to campus. We are currently securing spaces for officers to work, have recruitment (three possible locations are being considered for recruitment next year) and conduct meetings. House corporation has contracted with Treanor Architects for our designs (which remember are a fluid process and are always changing to fulfill our needs!), Little Dixie Construction to oversee and build our beautiful new home to our specifications, and we are in the process of contracting with two design firms to decorate it. We also have many dedicated DGs of all decades helping in this project; they are wonderfully talented DG women who provide inspiration and encouragement along the way, as well as provide their talents. We could not do this without the help of so many; our faithful alumnae continue to add their support with their time, serving on committees and, of course, their donations. Their financial support at the very beginning was key to acquiring our very beneficial bank loan! The chapter women have been overwhelmed as they see how dedicated our alumnae have been with their time, talents and pledges of support for the future of Mu chapter. They can certainly understand how "DG for life" rings true AND that it is an exciting time to be a Mu Delta Gamma! If you've been waiting to be a part of this great endeavor—please join our campaign!
