E
nsuring the overall success of our members and
assisting the chapter in recruiting and retaining
quality men are certainly top goals of the alumni and
undergraduate members. Our chapter house undoubtedly
plays a role in achieving these goals and serves as a symbol of
our shared vision of excellence.
We must meet the needs of our undergraduates and prepare
for the future of Oklahoma Beta. The need for safe, quiet,
well-lit academic and living space has never been greater.
Both university and off-campus housing offers all of these
amenities and more. If SigEp is to continue attracting
outstanding students, we must equip our chapter house to
meet their changing needs.
We must remain competitive with other fraternities on
campus. The University of Oklahoma fraternity community
is an extremely competitive market. Students recognize the
value of a positive fraternity experience in a top chapter. A
number of fraternities on campus have responded to the
competition by investing millions of dollars toward upgrading
or replacing their residential facilities: Alpha Tau Omega,
Beta Theta Pi, Delta Tau Delta, Delta Upsilon, Kappa Sigma,
Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi Gamma Delta, Phi Delta Theta, Sigma
Chi, and Sigma Nu have all completed or are beginning new
construction or renovation projects.
We must continue our role as a complement to a well-
rounded education. Sigma Phi Epsilon taught us things we
could not learn in the classroom. The lessons of leadership,
friendship, and personal responsibility are only the beginning
of a very long list of traits enhanced by the SigEp experience.
If we expect future generations to carry on our historical
success, we can settle for nothing less than the finest facility
and resources.
