ALPHA CHI OMEGA 3 E very year on October 15, we remember the vows we made to uphold the ide- als and values of our founders of Alpha Chi Omega. Founders' Day is a time to focus on our friendship and sisterhood, such as that of Amy Dubois and Estelle Leonard joining each other in practical jokes, or of Bessie Grooms giving up her time to help build up Alpha Chi Omega. Our seven founders created our sisterhood to promote the idea of Real. Strong. Women. Our founders left behind a legacy that we must maintain and celebrate as women of Alpha Chi Omega. This year, Alpha Beta has chosen to celebrate our founders' legacy with ritual education and a formal dinner. Throughout the time leading up to Founders' Day, we will look back at our founders and what they envisioned for Alpha Chi Omega nationally: strong women with a commitment to create a more positive reality for ourselves, as well as for others. We will also hold a Founders' Day challenge. This challenge is a competition among classes to see who can donate the most money to the Scarlet Ribbon Club, which is a great way to give back to the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation. We encourage you to do the same! Our formal dinner is for alumnae throughout Indiana, and we hope to see many of them attend as we celebrate and prepare for our upcoming Centennial in 2018! We will celebrate sisters who have reached Alpha Chi Omega member- ship milestones in joining the amazing sister- hood of Alpha Beta Chapter. We will also speak about the importance of the Scarlet Ribbon Club and Alpha Chi Omega Foundation further, as well as other ways to give back to Alpha Chi Omega. We absolutely cannot wait to celebrate and hope you feel the same. Remember, we can always celebrate our founders, and each other, as Real. Strong. Women. Loyally, Emily Grimwood '13 Vice President Ritual and Fraternity Appreciation Celebrating Our Founders ALPHA BETA RECRUITS THE BEST T he Purdue Panhellenic formal recruitment was a success for Alpha Beta Chapter, as we welcomed 48 bright, confident, and strong women who already bring so many diverse and positive additions to our chapter. We celebrated our new members to Alpha Chi Omega with a wonderland-themed Bid Day. Alpha Betas joined to meet our new members on the Krach Leadership Center lawn, proudly holding our ACW letters high. It was an incredible experience that started with a spontaneous dance party on our lawn and lots of pictures to capture the memories. Seeing the excitement in both the new members and lifetime members as women came running onto the lawn for hugs and laughs was an unforgettable sight. It was a wonderful day full of excitement and sisterhood, and we are confident that each new member has found a home in Alpha Chi Omega. Seeking the Heights in Summer Samantha Chon-Briggs '12 interned this summer with Enkei America Inc., in Columbus, Indiana. Through the company, she learned about Japanese culture and some of the language. Samantha worked for the reject development team, aiding the team whenever anything went wrong with casting procedures, as well as running an experiment on molten aluminum to see if she could reduce the hydrogen content by increasing the aluminum. Sarah Cohen '13 spent her summer interning at One+K studios in Los Angeles. She was able to work with numerous talented actors, producers, directors, and editors to create television shows, movies, and media content for large companies such as FOX, Sony, Disney, ABC, and many more. She directed casting calls for commercials, reviewed scripts for upcoming movies, created her own documentary, and sat in on interviews with actors about their work. Sarah said, "It was a great experience and I'm excited to begin my future career in the entertainment field!" Lexi Houser '14 worked for seven days at Busch Gardens in Tampa, Fla., shadowing and assisting the veterinarians who care for the zoo animals. She went on rounds with staff members early in the morning and watched surgeries and procedures in the afternoons. Lexi met many of the zoo animals and was able to go behind the scenes to their housing areas, which the public is not allowed to see.
