6 www.texaspikes.com The Beta Mu Review Keith Maxwell '84 (right) hosted the Energy Sector Career Advisory Session at his West Houston office on August 12. C ontinuing a series of alumni-led career advisory sessions, Keith Maxwell '84, John Rathmell '76 and Stratton Borchers '07 generously gave of their time to serve as faculty for Pike undergraduates at Keith's Houston office on August 12. Keith built and operates several independent energy companies, Johnny is in the energy and marine insurance business, and Stratton is a commodities trader for a supermajor energy company. The undergraduate Pike attendees enjoyed learning about energy industry opportunities, interviewing tips, and building their knowledge of the sector. Thank you to the alumni for helping prepare Pikes for successful, rewarding future careers. Carson Carruthers '07, a reservoir engineer with a large independent producer, could not attend personally, but contributed a message providing his counsel for engineering undergraduates. Bill Lakenmacher '82 also joined the session. This is the third such Beta Mu alumni-led session for undergraduates in 2015. Getting to Know Texas Pike Recent Graduates T exas Pike congratulates its 2014-15 graduates. Nine members of the fraternity graduated in December 2014, joined by another 20 in May. The recent graduates included a number of officers and leaders, including several Texas Cowboys and Silver Spurs. Best wishes to these young men as they leave The 40 Acres and begin graduate schools and careers. Several recent graduates are profiled here. James Oakum '11 James graduated with a B.B.A. in finance in May. James served Pi Kappa Alpha his junior year as treasurer. James has relocated to New York City and recently began work as an analyst at Goldman Sachs, a leading global investment banking, securities, and investment management firm. James is a Chicago native. Ryan Jankowski '11 Ryan, originally from White- fish Bay, Wisconsin, earned his B.B.A with a minor in account- ing from U.T. in May.
