Gamma Xi Anchor 6 While we were worried about holding recruitment in tents, we had a very successful fall recruitment and welcomed 86 new members to our sisterhood. G amma Xi Chapter has kept busy these last few months eagerly awaiting the new lodge. The chapter is proud to announce the addition of 86 new members, making us the largest chapter at Texas Tech, with a legacy return rate of 55%. We are thankful to have support from our alumnae through this time of growth and look forward to the year to come. 34 Members Receive 4.0 Gamma Xi finished the spring 2015 semester with a GPA of 3.17 and moved up two places in grades rankings from the fall semester! We celebrated academic achievement at the end of the semester with a Scholar Dollar Store, allowing members to buy prizes from the store with the points they acquired over the semester. In addition, 34 members received a 4.0 and made the President's List this past spring. Anchor Splash and Anchor Slam Successful Last semester, Gamma Xi raised $5,507.31 for Service for Sight and the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired while hosting Anchor Slam, a 5-on-5 men's basketball tournament. On September 25, we hosted our annual Anchor Splash at the Texas Tech indoor pool with 12 teams participating and more than 20 local sponsors. All proceeds were donated to Service for Sight and the Guide Dogs of Texas to sponsor advanced guide dog training. All alumnae, family, and friends are invited to come out and support Anchor Splash and Anchor Slam each semester. Campus Involvement We are proud of our members with outstanding student involvement.
