ANCHOR Gamma Xi Fall 2013 Gamma Xi Chapter of Delta Gamma at Texas Tech University - Fall 2015 I t is a great time to be a Delta Gamma, but then it has always been a great time to be a Delta Gamma, especially a Gamma Xi. Be sure to read through all the great accomplishments of our great chapter. Hot off the press, Delta Gamma's very own Lauren Gfroerer '12, VP social standards, was crowned Homecoming Queen by our very own Bailey Iverson '12, who was crowned last year. Back to back homecoming queens! But then, as far as I am concerned, all 245 of our members are homecoming queens. It is truly the greatest (and right now the largest) chapter on campus. Construction on the new lodge is coming along. A lot slower than I want, but I guess I can't control everything!! The chapter members have been so supportive and they are truly proud and excited about their new facility. That was evident with their amazing recruitment this year. We put up big white tents in the parking lot, pumped in air conditioning, provided porta potties, and our girls took the challenge head on and had one of the best recruitments ever. The only downside was the House Corporation had to use construction funds to pay for the tents and porta potties. The house is nearing completion, but the fundraising is not. The total project costs are estimated at $2 million. I know that sounds huge, but we need to have a facility that stands apart and represents the smart, talented, and beautiful women who enter our doors. Of course, it goes without saying, the more money we raise the lower the loan payment will be which ultimately will free up funds for our chapter to continue to be successful in so many ways. Barbara Bergman Roberston '71 said, "The lodge completion is finally in sight and what a sight it is! Delta Gamma has built a timeless structure that reflects a sophistication our Greek Circle has never seen. The design is French in influence: that beautiful architecture common to the French countryside that the United States has incorporated into our way of life. The colors are soft against the grey stone and wrought iron gates and beautifully frame our 40-year old oak and elm trees. The interior is bathed in natural lighting that will be warm on a cold, wintery day but cool in the summer heat. And then there are the formal areas and our magnificent chapter room. What an impressive contribution to our Fraternity and to Texas Tech University. You must plan a trip now to meet the women of Gamma Xi and celebrate this milestone in our history." With all of this in mind, your gift, no matter the size, is extremely important. You personally will have the opportunity to set the standard of sorority life with your contribution by supporting these amazing young women. As Texas Tech grows, so does our chapter. And the quality of the women that wear the badge of Delta G continues to soar to great heights. Only 14% of alumnae have participated in this project so far. Thank you to those that have made a gift and continue to make their pledge payments. That is so important and we would not be where we are today had it not been for your support. But we need the other 85% to get on board. Can we count on you? Gifts can easily be made online at http:// dggammaxi.kintera.org/donate or you can send a pledge or gift directly to P.O. Box 6036, Lubbock, TX 79493. Remember, all donors contributing $2,500 or more will have their names on a plaque that will be prominently displayed in our new lodge. If you have already made a gift, we ask that you consider increasing your gift by 20% or adding a sixth year to your pledge payment schedule. You are important to this success. You have the key that will help unlock the door to great potential, great leaders and a great new lodge!
