(Susan Goldstein, Epsilon Gamma) * Legacy; relative in parentheses W e are proud to have earned the top GPA among all sororities on campus for the second semester in a row! Our chapter continues to develop new programs to encourage academic excellence among our members. We hosted smarty parties at the house where sisters would come together to study and do homework. We also used our new system to log study hours, which makes it easy to track how many hours members are studying from anywhere on campus. The study teams implemented last semester introduced a fun, competitive aspect to our academic programming. The chapter was split into four teams, and competed to log the most hours at the end of the semester. The program was successful, and it was great to see everyone work together. We know that these programs will continue to help our sisters succeed and will help us maintain the top sorority GPA this fall! Vice President of Recruitment Ilana Steelman '13 and I attended the Alpha Epsilon Phi National Convention in June in Tampa, Florida. It was a great five days filled with fantastic speakers, programs, and learning opportunities. We met AEPhi sisters from the Atlantic to Pacific and had the opportunity to share ideas and programs with all of them over the course of the convention. Our chapter won awards for our academic and philanthropic achievements and we could not be prouder. We also had the opportunity to hear from Jake Glaser, son of Elizabeth Glaser, about his mother and his experience with the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. It was inspiring to hear about the incredible things that EGPAF is doing around the world and how AEPhi has been able to help. We came away with notebooks full of ideas that we can't wait to bring back to Mu Chapter. Our spring philanthropy event, SurPHIvor, was also a huge success. We partnered with Alpha Chi Rho fraternity to host a barbecue dinner and competition to raise money for the EGPAF. We had teams from different fraternities and sororities participate in a relay race with different events, such as human bowling, an obstacle course, and a pie eating contest. Everyone had a great time raising money for EGPAF, and we can't wait for our fall philanthropy event to benefit Sharsheret. We are also excited to welcome new members into our chapter. We have an incredible new member education program planned for them this semester. They will learn about the history of Alpha Epsilon Phi and Mu Chapter at University of Illinois, all while getting to know the rest of the active members through fun activities. We could not be happier to welcome them into our AEPhi family, and we know that they will do amazing things for our chapter!
