Inside: ALUMNA SPOTLIGHT 2 WELCOME, NEW MEMBERS 2-3 MU FINDS SUCCESS WITH NEW STUDY PROGRAM 3 Fall 2015 A L P H A E P S I L O N P H I A T T H E U N I V E R S I T Y O F I L L I N O I S Mu Chapter Strand of Pearls House Corporation Completes Chapter House Projects Memory Wall Installed to Honor Departed Sisters I am just back from my fall visit to Mu Chapter, where I met with our new members, executive board officers, house staff, and viewed the house updates completed during the summer break. As always, I enjoyed spending time with the wonderful chapter members. Our major project over the summer was the installation of a beautiful new snack kitchen! The women are really enjoying the new space, which has provided them with increased storage and counter space and features such as a subway tile backsplash and a new refrigerator. Other updates and repairs include: • New drapery in the living room • New mattresses for all bedrooms and dormers • Repairs to the boiler • New roof • An alumnae memorial wall leading into the chapter room The memory wall was installed to honor and remember our dearly departed sisters. We have a plaque where alumnae names and initiation years will be inscribed, as well as memory books for photographs and tributes. Please share with us the names of any sisters you would like to include. We want to honor their memory permanently in the chapter house. I hope you have the opportunity to visit the house the next time you are in Champaign! The chapter members love welcoming alumnae to the house.
