RANDY PHILLIPS '71: Loyal Sig and Supporter of Active Chapter W hen going through recruitment in the fall of 1967, Randy Phillips '71 visited Sigma Chi and liked what he saw in the members and the other young men they were recruiting. The friendships and brotherhood developed during the next few years became so important to Randy that he continues to remain in contact with his brothers and the Chapter today. As an undergraduate, Randy enjoyed pledge parties and sneaks, fellowship with the brothers, and the camaraderie with men of high ambition and ideas. He believes Gamma Delta helped him mature during his college days and develop a strong network of friends. Randy has been able to relive his active years as his three sons, Chad '97, Kirt '00, and Nick '02, all joined Gamma Delta. "We are from a small town of approximately 1,500 people, Booker, Texas, and at one time when my oldest two sons were in the house, there were seven boys from Booker in the house." Even with a busy law career, Randy still finds time to stay involved with Gamma Delta. "I visit regularly during football season. The house is great, Mom Sutton is outstanding, and the alumni who spend their time on the House Corporation board are doing an outstanding job." On his visits back to the Chapter house, Randy has been impressed with the active Chapter. "I am particularly proud of their academics. The overall grades are much better than when I was an active. They also continue to participate and excel in all of the campus extracurricular activities, which is important for being a top Fraternity on campus." Randy and his wife, Sue, live in Booker, Texas, and enjoy golfing, fishing, visiting with children and grandchildren, and spending time at their South Fork, Colorado, house. He is a shareholder in the law firm of Lemon, Shearer, Phillips & Good, P.C., with offices in Booker, Perryton, and Canadian, Texas.
