Page 2 Beta Tidings MEMBER SIZE DOUBLED We boosted our numbers significantly last year by bringing in 20 new members; nearly double what our roster was the year before. Much of our success was because of the emphasis we put on our scholarship program and mentoring new members. We intend to continue these efforts and reach house capacity by the end of the year. FOUNDER'S DAY ALLOWS FOR INTERACTION WITH ALUMNI We love having our alumni and parents involved in chapter functions. This summer, we hosted our 90th annual Founder's Day. We had brothers of all age groups, spanning actives to members who graduated in the 1950s. I was very pleased to discuss traditions that we still keep with alumni who carried them on many years ago. This semester, we'll be hosting a large cookout for family weekend with our football buddies, Sigma Alpha sorority. We're looking forward to enjoying the weekend with brothers and family members alike. The coming semester is going to require a lot of work. However, I'm confident in the abilities of my brothers, both in the fraternity and in Christ. We will have both the determination and spiritual fortitude to carry on and continue to improve our brotherhood according to our motto: Per aspera ad astra. Fraternally, Jacob Hahn '13 Chapter President hahn12@purdue.edu Through Adversity, to the Stars (Continued from page 1) T his summer, Beta Sig was able to make a few renovations to the Chapter House. The south and north stairwells received new wooden treads as the concrete steps kept cracking. A new, more secure trophy case was installed in the Schmidt room. We plan to showcase the original charter in the case when done. SUMMER RENOVATIONS Undergraduates Appreciate Opportunities Awarded by Alumni Loyal Alumni Give $6,500 toward Annual Fund I n spring 2015, 20 alumni generously responded to our call for supporting Beta Chapter and gave $6,500 to Beta Chapter's annual campaign.
