The whole Men of Principle, closing houses, recolonizing, and implementing real, working advisors to assist in consulting is a huge revamp of Beta Theta Pi. Other national fraternities are taking note and starting to reexamine their own business models. At the beginning of the second semester this year, all advisors met and selected Monday nights to attend chapter meetings—generally one advisor per meeting. That puts oversight and guidance in meetings if any issues arise where alumni experiences may be helpful. In the history of Beta, the early years didn't designate an executive committee, which meets on the Sunday before the Monday chapter meeting. This takes place now. Today, there is an accountability/kai committee that examines infractions to the Men of Principle and may issue sanctions as appropriate. We also have a General Fraternity district consultant. Participation in leadership clinics and the national convention is an integral part of developing leadership skills in our young men. Academic excellence is not just a chance occurrence; there is a monitoring process in place. With these major changes coming out of Oxford, Gamma Lambda and other chapters have a governance structure with proactive leadership and a framework for attaining our chapter's objectives that encompasses practically every sphere of chapter management. This foundation puts us on solid ground to pursue excellence in all our endeavors.
