W
hen we sat down to discuss what a new house could
look like for Theta Delta, we first made a list of what
a successful Beta chapter would need in a home.
Our must-have list includes 10 key components:
our vision for The
Future of Theta Delta
Along with construction planning, the Beta Theta Pi Building
Association has developed extensive policies that will be
implemented to help foster an environment that shall preserve
the new facility and will govern the use, maintenance, and
activities conducted in the house.
The design incorporates a stunning Georgian façade and preserves
the landmark location Beta has been known for at Ohio State
for decades. It has all the interior workings to maximize the
operational success of Theta Delta, including modern and efficient
utility systems. Dan Pickett '80 of architectural firm Moody Nolan
facilitated the final design.
Our new Beta house will have a strategic live-in capacity of 50 men:
large enough to have a critical mass of a successful Chapter under
one roof living the fraternity experience while not being too large to
require recruiting just anyone to fill it. We learned from our past; this
is the culmination of decades of experience.
R A chapter room large and pri vate enough to hold Ritual
R A dining room where brothers can enjoy me als toge ther
R Common space s for socializing and bonding
R A f ront porch for gathering , connecting decade s of
memorie s f rom the old house to our ne w generation
R Pri vate study spaces for indi vidual or group study sessions
R Study rooms large enough to accommodate today's
student needs
R Private bathrooms that still forces interaction with brothers
R A stre amlined kitchen to mee t the Chapter 's needs
without wasting valuable square footage
