As soon as the active members moved out this spring, we broke ground on our amazing new patio at the southwest corner of the house. Additionally, we renovated the lowest level of the house, includ- ing opening up the dining room, expanding the kitchen and adding a walk-in fridge and freezer, building a craft room and underground storage, creating a new mail center, adding a refreshment bar, and equipping an ADA-accessible bathroom in the basement. We've repurposed Room 99, previously called 55, to become a Theta-only boardroom with many of our greatest awards and ritual items on display. Throughout the dining room, the décor honors the chapter's history from 1909 until today. As the southwest corner of the house was excavated, we unearthed a portion of the 1922 façade. This discovery confirmed to the Facility Corporation Board that we are doing the right thing in restoring this beautiful historic home. We are so proud to be pursuing this project, which maintains the architectural feel and integrity of the house, just shy of the home turning 100. We've even had a local arborist adopt the big pin oak tree in the front yard, helping us to ensure it lives its longest life possible. The kitchen renovation has been especially exciting. As our chapter numbers have grown, we've needed to improve our capacity for cooking and storage and for meeting the unique dietary needs of our members. We've added stainless steel wall coverings, restaurant- grade flooring, and commercial-grade kitchen appliances that will make the work of our kitchen staff easier. By opening up the dining room and removing the columns between the "old" and "new" addition, for the first time in many years, all the women living in the chapter house can enjoy a formal dinner together. The refreshment bar is also a great addition to the dining space—a few members have already begun calling it their "personal café." ALPHA MU WELCOMES YOU BACK As our actives came back to school this fall and welcomed 85 new members from a recruitment of 1,892 potential new members, they were so proud to showcase the new outdoor space during recruitment and mock recruitment. Now we can't wait for the rest of our Alpha Mu family to begin utilizing it as well. Throughout the fall, we want to welcome all of our alumnae back home to see 603 Kentucky's renovations and to meet our active members. And, of course, make sure you say "hello" to our facility director, Paula "Mama" Gee, as well. Each football Saturday, we'll have refreshments like coffee, donuts, and Theta Mix. If weather allows, we hope you'll enjoy refreshments on the new patio, but even if we're forced indoors in colder weather, you'll be able to admire the renovated kitchen and dining room. During Homecoming weekend (October 9-11), we'd also love to see all of you back at 603 during Friday night's house decorations for coffee, hot chocolate, and Theta Mix. Please see the fall football schedule and collegian events inside this newsletter. On behalf of the Facility Corporation Board, our accomplished collegians, and our beloved alumnae, we hope to see you soon at our forever home on Kentucky Boulevard.
