A hhh, there's nothing like a fall day on the revered KU campus to welcome our 29 very smart, energetic, confident, and handsome new members. The day was awesome with temps under 80 degrees—a blessing for the parents and those on the third floor! Following the move in, there was a parent's meeting with a few alumni and executive actives in one room assuring the families that their son(s) were in a GREAT house, and we were ready to nurture their visions and encourage their hopes. All the while, the other executive members and all the new members were meeting in the dining room to get acquainted. At 6 p.m., the boys shared a meal, traded information, and began the bonding process with each other. At 6:01 p.m., all the parents were on their way home, having entrusted their eager Jayhawk(s) to Sigma Nu Fraternity. It's been a relatively quiet summer at the historic Stubbs Mansion. We only had one project continuing into the vacation, and I'm happy to report that it is now finished! Thank you to our generous alumni, and especially John Golden '51, Nu 0884, for restoring the basement bath and laundry rooms. Those fortunate enough to live within this area think they are registered in a hotel. They are even ringing the bells on their bedside tables for room service! I'm certain that reality has dawned on them by now! I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Landon Riesenberg '12, Nu 2316, Tommy English '13, Nu 2336, and Michael Huff '13, Nu 2333, and all the other officers and actives for jobs Nu Chapter of Sigma Nu P.O. House Happenings By Housemother Sally Nixon Attention: This newsletter is intended for alumni and parents. If your son is still attending the University of Kansas, he will receive a copy at the chapter house. If he has graduated, please send us his permanent address to update our records. Thank you. well done last year. Also the Mom's Club officers, Lisa Aul, Lisa English, Lisa Olson, and Tracey Throop, for all their support and for the deck furniture they so generously gifted to the boys. We couldn't be the chapter we are without our fantastic alumni support. They are generous with their time, endless support, and steadfast advice so that the men of Sigma Nu will leave in four (or five) years with the integrity, honesty, spirit, and character that makes them an honored Sigma Nu. I send all respect and thankfulness to Jordan Herbert '08, Nu 2199, who has been our devoted House Corporation Board advisor for five years. He will be retiring his position at semester and we are fortunate to welcome John LeRoy '08, Nu 2209 to fill Jordan's shoes. Last but not least, our Corporation Board president for the previous four years, Ken Guest '67, Nu 1247, has been a committed, diligent, and candid leader while bringing us through some necessary growth spurts. Thank you, Ken, for your valuable leadership and for talking Steve Moon '67, Nu 1257 into replacing you! Work Week was fantastic. The executive board came and spent almost a week repairing, cleaning bedrooms, replacing vents, light bulbs, tiles, trimming bushes, weeding, and many other chores. Thanks so much for respecting the chapter and caring for your home away from home. Through the past year, we managed new front steps and a landing for our lovely home, some cement work around the foundation, and lots of watering for the green grass. Please accept an open invitation to all alumni, families, and friends. We love it when you stop by when you are in Lawrence. And here's a thought—how about some reunions? How long has it been since you've seen some of your brothers? Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. Hope to see you soon. Rock Chalk! Sally Nixon Thank you to the generous alumni who made the basement bathroom and laundry room renovations possible!
