March 7, 2012 Perspectives Quirky Quartzsite's Contributed by Violet Kiss Ah, Leap Year…Many people use it to re- invent themselves, smile. In that light, let's investigate stretching the truth (and I am being kind). Looking back at the last 12-24 months, we see a group, let's just call them the Anti-Quartzsites who have done nothing but cause havoc; and using chaos as their directive. Town documents show Ed Foster, who on his application to the Town, stating he is an Electrical E-ngineer. He went for less than one year to college back in 1966, how does that make you an Electrical Engineer, possibly through work apprenticing elec- trical perhaps. But, then, you would be called an Electrician, not an Engineer. Last fall, he mentioned Robotics in his past; the usual term for "pushing buttons" as he called it, is actually a Robotic Technician, not an Engineer. I've worked in sales en- gineering and executive head-hunting in/ with the automotive manufacturing field in Detroit from the early 1970's through the late 1990's, and today in computer software in California and here in Arizona. There are very few fields one can use the term "Engineer" without holding an En- gineering degree, ie: Sales Engineer, Net- work Engineer, Sound Engineer, Project Engineer. Specific Engineering degrees are demanded for Electrical, Mechanical, Aeronautical and Civil Engineers. Many of these also require Licensed Professional Certifications by the State. Foster has also initiated 2 cases of criminal charges to the DPS on our Police Chief, one in June, 2010 (along with Bill Moore) and July of 2011. Both cases were dropped, and as usual, Ed failed in his pleas. Not only that, Chief Gil- QIA DESERT MUSIC Thursdays 7 pm-9 pm sign up at 6 pm 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Thurs. Open Jam Thurs. Foster as Mayor, used his web- site blog to negate and wrongly criticize our Town for the short time he was Mayor. He was cen- sured constantly for not doing his job correctly and doing oth- er things wrongly. Foster was successfully recalled last summer. In his campaign letter, he says, "I still care! I want to be your next Mayor". He cares? He did noth- ing but created a mess at town hall, prov- ing he did NOT care. He ran uncontrolled meetings creating total disharmony, with yelling matches and other abusive behav- ior by his constituents. Well, I personally have a problem with him recently being thrown out of office by a successful recall. Why would I want an often censured and recalled mayor in again? I don't. Now, let's look at Jennifer "Jade" Jones. In the past 2 years, we have seen her un- believable escalation of spewing hatred and making up scathing rumors of many in town. She bragged about not having a business permit while other legitimate Quartzsite businesses have them. Jade proclaims she makes less than poverty- level (so as not to report income) yet has clients with pets coming into her pet care and paid ads in her monthly paper(s) that are everywhere, not only in Quartzsite but Parker and beyond. How is all that below poverty-level? And, where and how does she get all that money (unreported) to pub- lish this paper all over the County? How is writing negatively about a well-respect- ed legacy, Rosalee Oldham Wheeler, and a well-loved veteran and Councilperson, Bob Kelley anything but bad? The fiasco of June, 2011 whereby Jade was taken from the Town Hall Meeting was an abomina- tion on Quartzsite itself. Going viral with only a 'staged' part of the story is in itself, Register now! I reviewed 2 videos of Council Meetings and saw Jen- nifer Jones violated the rules of conduct at the Council Meeting of June 28, 2011, yet at an 'earlier' Special Council Meeting of June 1, 2011, she abided by those same rules. See for yourself. Funny, in reading the documents of the DPS investigation, she denied having any knowledge of those rules during her investigation report. So where does one draw a line about the truth or simply making up things as you go sim- ply to win (by any means possible)? Did the Town react too quickly? It appears so, but one must think that the wanting of her removal was predicated by her oft history of verbal abuse and running off on her per- sonal agenda not on the town's business agenda as it should be. Perhaps due to a Page 19 former meeting that was a near-riot, the town reacted quickly so it would not hap- pen again. The Attorney General stated that if the Town had given Jade a warning before removing first her then they would have been totally in the right. The Town did what they did to protect the town and its people. Now, why would I want to vote for such a dishonest and negative person who does nothing personally "for" the town? I won't. A little side note here, is everything per- fect with our Town? Of course not. Did we have to get a little training here and there and be corrected on ways of running Meetings? Yes. Has anything actually been against the law with the State, County, or SEE PERSPECTIVES ON PAGE 36 Now Open in Quartzsite!
