I awoke this morning to a video a friend shared on my Facebook page which brought so much laughter and sweet memories of a brother who left us for the great hunting grounds in the sky. I remembered how simple laughter is; for it's just being in the moment, not worrying about who's right or who's wrong; not being con- cerned about what the future brings. Just laughing in the moment. What sheer pleasure that is and how easy we can forget to partake in simple laughter. We get caught up in day to day life with bills, worries, other people's drama, etc. When snowbirds share their on- line photos of their grandchildren laughing and playing together, my heart is happy knowing they are enjoying being in the moment with their loved ones. Our society could By Shanana "Rain" BearCat use a little more laughter; since laughter is the best medicine! Why does everyone have to be so darn serious anyway? Yes, there's pain and suffering in the world and we all know it...just watch the evening news and read the news online. Sadness, anger, frustration is ev- erywhere, but that doesn't mean I have to participate. Learning to adopt a lighter attitude and see the funny side of everyday situations gives us the resilience we need to cope on the tough days. Laughing triggers the release of chemicals in your brain, creating feelings of happiness that can often linger for long time. The kids who participated in the Jolly Q Sum- mer Camp got to experience lots of laughter and even taught the adults to remember why laughter is im- portant. Let's keep showing those smiles! Besides, it just feels good! Then we have those with the courage to face the heat and great natural summer surprises. Travelling, vacations, and the heat, deters many donors," ac- cording to Ann Trilby, United Blood Services representative. "The sup- ply is down, but, the demand is up, particularly in July and August" , she added. To encourage more donors, United Blood Services is offering an extra incentive to all blood donors at the smaller blood drives for the month of July. All donors will receive a voucher for one FREE midday sightseeing cruise at Lake Mead Cruises. This voucher is good through September 2015.
