Our community has had many accomplish- ments in 2011. A few of the highlights. In 2011 our local economy continued to make some dramatic advances. Statistics re- leased last year showed Cumberland County workers pay and benefits continue to grow much faster than national averages and Fay- etteville's Gross Domestic Product growing faster than the national economy. Also our area continues to achieve significant prog- ress gaining additional funding for the I-295 outer loop making sure that this project remains a priority for our state. Of course, the catalyst of much of this growth was the relocation of the Army's Forces Command and Reserve Command to Fort Bragg. Our region also received significant acco- lades. Fayetteville has received the presti- gious All-America City Award. Recently, your board of directors enlisted the team of Garner Economics, LLC, a leader in the economic development con- sulting and site location industry, to assist the community with its overall economic development strategy. Jay Garner, President of Garner Econom- ics, recently conducted an informational meeting entitled "Are we on the Same Page - What Makes Good Communities Great" In his presentation Jay discussed Economic Development, the most important compo- nents of its success, and strategies successful communities are using to drive their local economic development efforts. We hope this helped give everyone a clear vision for our future. We look forward to a productive 2012!
