Thefollowingdefendants were sentenced in Tehama County Superior Court, ac- cording to the Tehama County District Attorney's Office: RecentState/Local PrisonCommitments: People vs. Angelo Spears, First Degree Residential Burglary; Grand Theft of Personal Property. Brief history: The Defen- dant and his co-defendant went into the victim's home and vandalized the resi- dence. The Defendant broke several items throughout the home, poured paint on the flooring, spray-painted cab- inets, broke the television, and then stole jewelry. The Defendant was contacted by police and admitted. TheDe- fendant and several compan- ions decided to steal a golf cart from a business. When they were about to pull out of the business, when an offi- cer noticed them and the De- fendant and his companions fled. The officer was able to detain the Defendant, and his companion, and the De- fendant admitted to what he'd done. Sentenced to 2 years 8 months State Prison People vs. Corey Dial, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with Special Al- legations Driving Under the Influence within ten years of three prior DUI convictions. Brief history: Officers were dispatched to a traf- fic collision where a vehicle was blocking an off ramp from the freeway. The Defen- dant had hit a vehicle, which was carrying the victim, his wife and 6 children and pull- ing a trailer. The victim had pulled onto the shoulder to rest. When contacted, the of- ficer could smell the odor of alcohol on the Defendants breath, and his speech was slurred. The Defendant blew a 0.27% blood alcohol level. Sentenced to 2 years Lo- cal Prison RecentCountyJail Commitments: People vs. Tyler Burrone, Vehicular Manslaughter. Brief history: The Defen- dant was driving his vehi- cle down the highway and, while texting on his cell- phone, failed to notice that the victim's vehicle had stopped in front of him and was attempting to make a left turn. Defendant rear ended the victim's vehicle and forced it into the path of an oncoming semi truck. The five year old victim in- side the vehicle received fa- tal injuries as a result of the crash and the child's mother was seriously injured. Sentenced to 340 days county jail. People vs. Allan Gonza- lez, Transport for Sale/Non- Contiguous County; Child Abuse; Child Abuse. Brief history: The Defen- dant was stopped for a traf- fic violation. When the offi- cer contacted the Defendant, he appeared very nervous. The Defendant had his wife and two children in the ve- hicle. The Defendant de- nied having anything illegal within the vehicle, but the officer's K-9 alerted to the trunk of the vehicle. The of- ficer located in a child's suit- case, and between the liner 2 packages of heroin total- ing 2.22 pounds wrapped up with black electrical tape. The Defendant admitted. Sentenced to 365 days county jail. People vs. James Hamby, Theft from an Elder or De- pendant Adult; Failure to Appear on Own Recogni- zance. Brief history: The De- fendant was taking care of his grandfather after open heart surgery, when he stole $20,000 from his grand- father's safe. The Defen- dant was caught by his fam- ily members buying lavish gifts for others with the sto- len money. The Defendant failed to appear in court on the previously listed case. Sentenced to 180 days county jail. People vs. Jeramy Bowers, Resisting an Executive Offi- cer 2 counts. Brief history: While offi- cers were dispatched to a re- port of a burglary. The con- tacted the Defendant. When officers attempted to detain the Defendant, he tried to hit the officers several times with a 4'8" stick. The offi- cer's dog was eventually able to detain the Defendant and he was booked into the jail. Sentenced to 180 days county jail. People vs. Brian Vernon Ross, Receiving Stolen Prop- erty. Brief history: The victim called to make a report of two antique items being sto- len. The same day the items were stolen, the Defendant sold them to an auto store in Corning. The Defendant wascontacted and admitted. Sentenced to 90 days county jail. People vs. Joshua Coyle, Corporal Injury to Spouse or Cohabitant; Resisting Ar- rest. Brief history: Officers were dispatched to a home regarding a domestic dis- turbance. When officers ar- rived the victim appeared very shaken and scared. The Defendant and victim got into an argument, when the Defendant choked the vic- tim, making her unable to breathe and threatened to kill her. Defendant denied anything physical went on, but officers arrested the De- fendant. Sentenced to 60 days county jail. People vs. Justin Lough- miller, Distributing or Show- ing Pornography to a Minor; Indecent Exposure. Brief history: The Defen- dant was playing basket- ball with the 12 year old vic- tim when he started talking in a sexual manner to her. The Defendant then pro- ceeded to show full frontal nude pictures of himself to the victim. The victim had climbed a ladder on a fence to her friend's yard. When she got onto the other side, the Defendant was there. The Defendant then pro- ceeded to talk to the victim and showed her his genita- lia. The Defendant then fled the scene. Sentenced to 90 days county jail. People vs. Wilber Hernan- dez-Ortiz, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol caus- ing Injury with Special Alle- gation, Injury to more than one Victim. Brief history: The Defen- dant was involved in a vehi- cle collision in Corning. He sped through an intersection and crashed into a fence on the other side. When the offi- cer contacted the Defendant, he noticed the Defendant smelled like alcohol and his speech was slurred. Two vic- tims in the Defendant's vehi- cle were taken to the hospi- tal for injuries related to the crash. The Defendant admit- ted he had consumed alcohol and was under the influence of alcohol at the time. Sentenced to 210 days county jail. People vs. Ashley Lakey, Second Degree Commercial Burglary; Grand Theft; Fail- ure to Appear on Own Re- cognizance. Brief history: The Defen- dant was given a job of help- ing the victim clean his RV. When the victim went on vacation, he came home to find his RV had been bur- glarized and the safe, in which he had paid the De- fendant out of for cleaning, was stolen. The Defendant had also cashed a check from the victim's account in the amount of $350. The victim had let the De- fendant and her compan- ion stay at her home while she was away. When she re- turned she discovered that she had several items of jew- elry missing. It was discov- ered the Defendant had sto- len the items and pawned some and sold others. Of- ficers were able to recover some items, but not all. The Defendant had failed to ap- pear in court on her previ- ously listed felony cases. Sentenced to 270 days county jail. Brief history: Defendant was arrested and charged with the murder of a 14 year old victim who had been reported missing when she never returned home from school. Offi- cers located the victim's body two days later. PTC/MIL: June 17, at 11 a.m. TBJ: July 6, at 8 a.m. Department to be deter- mined. People vs. Joseph Cadotte, Voluntary Man- slaughter with Special Al- legation Prior Any Fel- ony; Battery with Serious Bodily Injury with Special Allegation Prior Any Fel- ony Brief history: The Defen- dant saw the victim walk- ing down the street, when he approached him and punched him. The victim fell to the ground where the Defendant continued to punch and kick the vic- tim. The victim later died. PTC/MIL: July 10, at 11 a.m. TBJ: July 22, at 1:30 p.m. Department to be deter- mined. People vs. Travis John Kilburger, Solicitation of Murder (2 counts) Brief history: Defendant was in custody on domes- tic violence charges when he solicited another in- mate to kill two individ- uals in exchange for cash and a vehicle.
