MissouriAlpha • 2 • TheSigEpTigerHeart W hen Kent Kreh '57 went through recruitment at Missouri, he found Missouri Alpha had a remarkable group of men whom he connected with right away. "It was an exceptional chapter at the time with a great reputation. The fact that Missouri Alpha is the first in the state and over 100 years old now really represents a significant milestone for SigEp." SigEp gave Kent a sense of confidence, taught him to have a commitment to his brothers and excellence, and showed what was expected of him in business. As an undergraduate, he wishes he would have realized that his classes and the University were preparing him for a career. "You never realize that the classes you take are laying a foundation. I took French and thought I would never use it, but my career has taken me around the world and I ended up speaking French!" After graduation, Kent began his career working for Ford in their junior executive training program. He then worked for Bristol Meyers in sales and marketing in St. Louis and New York City, moved to Minneapolis to work as marketing director for General Mills, then moved back to New York where he worked for Weight Watchers International, a division of the H.J. Heinz Company, for 27 years, serving as president and CEO for his last three years there. Next he became CEO of a skin care company, associated with a private equity firm, and then became chairman of the board of Jenny Craig. Today he is retired but works in private equity, is active on the board of the St. Louis Art Museum, the University of Missouri Arts and Sciences Strategic Development Board, and the University of Missouri's Cabinet. Kent knows SigEp has helped make him who he is today. "SigEp laid the foundation, taught me how to get along with people, and helped me understand there are a lot of bright and talented brothers out there, and you hope they impact your life and you impact theirs." His favorite memory of Mo Alpha was meeting his wife of 55 years, Dorothy, on a blind date and getting to experience college life together. Dorothy was a Theta and named Sweetheart of SigEp. Living in New York prohibited Kent from keeping in touch with many of his Mo Alpha brothers, but he is living in St. Louis again and would like to reconnect. Reach out to him via e-mail at kqdlkreh@charter.net. SigEp Laid Foundation for Kent Kreh '57 SigEp members and their mothers had brunch on the roof of the Broadway Hotel to close out our 2015 Mom's Weekend. John Hartman '61 and Jay Hurt, Davidson '88, received the NIC silver medal at the annual NIC meeting in April for their years of service, specifically their work co-founding the Ruck Leadership Institute. A chapter retreat was held in January at Mo Alpha, facilitated by SigEp Regional Director Chris Miller. The Missouri Alpha delegation at the 2015 Carlson Leadership Academy in Chicago on February 20-22. Over 900 SigEp alumni and undergraduates from around the Midwest attended.
