MU MESSENGER Spring 2015 Volume 4 Debbie Seebold Evans, Editor F or more than 100 years, the rich traditions of Delta Gamma have made a significant impact on the lives of Mu chapter women at the University of Missouri. Many of our special college memories involve our Mu chapter sisters. DG's values and rich history have sustained generations of our sisterhood and impacted the members of the university community. Investing in Our Future Our home at 900 South Providence Road has provided a safe and nurturing environment for our sisters to grow and learn for years; however, newer technology and building codes have dramatically changed. It has become clear that our home can no longer meet the needs of our collegians and physically cannot be repaired to solve its aging problems. Your investment in Mu chapter will create a facility that will allow our sisters to learn and grow in a comfortable, safe living environment and to maintain a competitive edge in the University of Missouri Greek community. The ability to recruit and retain the best young women requires that our facility be among the best with respect to modernization, educational programming, computer/Internet access, and safety. The Vision Through careful consideration and planning, Mu house corporation has determined the most logical and necessary strategy for our future is to build a new chapter house at 900 South Providence Road and tear down the existing annex to provide for required parking. Our new home will maintain the historical and architectural characteristics of the existing house and allow all live-in members to be under one roof. It will feature a formal chapter room that will allow our members to have chapter meetings in the chapter house and a much larger dining room, ADA-compliant restrooms, quiet study areas, and a commercial kitchen with a separate weekend kitchen for member use. The Commitment of Our Sisters As we embark on this journey for a new home, we thank all of the sisters who have provided early financial gifts to bring these plans to reality. Thus far, $999,896 has been committed to the Anchored in Tradition: Honoring Our Past, Building Our Future campaign by 73 of our Mu sisters. This is a marvelous start, but we need your help to reach the $2 million campaign goal if we hope to complete the plan as envisioned. Your Part in the Plan In the coming weeks, you will receive more information detailing this project and how YOU can help make a difference. With your help, we can ensure that the legacy you helped build will live on for many years to come. Contact either of us if you would like more information and/or are interested in being an early donor at dksevans@ charter.net or footballwidow@earthllink.net. Our bonds of Mu sisterhood will get it done… we are sure of it!
