Columbia was new territory for the Delaware native, but after meeting the women of Delta Gamma, Martha quickly found her place. "I was far from home and didn't know a soul when I arrived at Mizzou; however, my pledge sisters welcomed me without a second thought," Martha said. "To this day, I remember that and try and reach out to people I see who seem a little out of place." Although Martha transferred from Mizzou after her sophomore year, she carries the lessons of teamwork and organization, but most of all, "the tremendous power of friendship." These memories inspired Martha to secure the Mu legacy for others through the Anchored in Tradition: Honoring Our Past, Building Our Future campaign. "Staying in touch with the chapter and giving back is a good example of a win-win situation," she said. "The Fraternity and Foundation win because they get support, guidance, and advice from women who have been there and have realized the many benefits of our sisterhood. And for us as individuals, maintaining that strong connection and sense of history is a tremendous gift we can give ourselves. It feels good to see your sisters and feel the bonds—no matter how old you are." Although Martha admits to losing track of her DG sisters for a few years, she has made up for the lost time. "Staying in touch with the chapter and giving back is a good example of a win-win situation. It feels good to see your sisters and feel the bonds—no matter how old you are." (Continued on page 4)
