And she'll know what it feels like to be a Cal Bear for life, which is pretty cool to me as her mom! It always defined me and who I am, and now it's shaping her into a young woman with the world ahead of her." Kristin graduated with degrees in microbiology and immunology and a master of public health also from UC Berkeley where she studied forensic science. She loves that she is making a difference and pushing boundaries to improve the lives of others. Kristin and her husband, Jim, live in Alamo, California. They met the year Kristin joined Chi Omega as Jim was a member of the fraternity next door. They married in 1988, a few years after graduating. When Justine was accepted into Cal, Jim was less open-minded about which sorority she might join. "He said, 'Of course you'll join Chi Omega' since I think he felt as much a part of the sorority in the end as I did, befriending my friends, being invited to Sunday night dinners, and attending many shared parties and exchanges. He is excited for Justine to live in the house next year and feels comfortable knowing she is in such good hands." Kristin and Jim's son Patrick graduated from UC San Diego in 2013 and will attend medical school this fall. Their other son, Connor, is graduating with a degree in engineering from UCLA this spring. Kristin enjoys hiking Mt. Diablo in her free time and serves on the Chi Omega board of directors. You can contact her at garvintell@gmail.com.
