his past fall, 17 Cal Delta men earned a 3.5 or better GPA. While overall the
chapter grades were lower than in past years, there were still some stellar
performances. In fact, four Cal Delta scholars posted a perfect 4.0: Matt Alegria
'15, Cody Johnson '15, Alex Kress '15, and Alex Nelson '14. The following men
earned at or above a 3.5: Nick Destein '16, Brent Zoucha '18, Sam Moses '16,
Levi Sebahar '16, Trevor Lahoz '17, Colin McAlvin '17, Amer Dandashi '15,
and Dale Schrock '17. Eighteen other men brought in a GPA at or above the chapter
average goal of 3.25.
To reward these men for their focus on academics, your Cal Delta AVC hosted a
reward steak dinner at the chapter house on Tuesday, March 3. Bob Gibbs '63 tended
the grill and the side dishes came from Olive Garden.
To formalize the recognition, SigEp faculty fellow Christine Probett prepared and
presented award certificates in honor of the high achievement and leadership of the
above named Cal Delta scholastic all-stars. Also in attendance to help congratulate
the chapter's top grade earners were Troy Hanson, Indiana Zeta '02, Dann Whalen
'69, Ron Smith '69, and our other fantastic faculty fellow, Jessica Savalla. Chapter
President Austin Dean '16 (with a not too shabby GPA of 3.36) was there to
supervise.
All agreed that it would be amazing (albeit very expensive) if, come the end of spring
term, we could have a dinner like this for two or three times as many top chapter
scholars. Here's the deal: if the brothers get the grades, the AVC will get the steaks!
Cal Delta AVC Salutes Top Scholars
We kicked off the spring semester by celebrating the members who received a 3.5 GPA or higher during the fall of 2014 by providing them
with a steak dinner. The dinner was hosted by the alumni volunteer corporation and celebrated the academic achievement of nearly 25 members.
