page 2 The Carnation Chronicle An Enriching Experience Alumna Thankful for Valuable Leadership Opportunities A s the CEO of TayganPoint Consulting Group, Joy Taylor '88 spends her days helping others reach their goals and objectives. As an Alpha Chi, she directly benefitted from sisters doing the same for her. "Being in a sorority is exactly like working for a company and, frankly, being part of a family," Joy said. "Learning how to work with a variety of personalities, under continuous change, with unpredictable pressures all mirrors real life experience. Having a place to practice those skills was invaluable." Joy joined the Gamma Iota Chapter as a sophomore after acclimating to the college experience her first year. She wanted a place to grow and develop as a leader while also making friends and positively impacting her community. Alpha Chi Omega provided those opportunities, as well as many fond memories. These positive experiences motivate Joy to stay in touch with her sisters and help secure the Gamma Iota legacy for others. "College is an amazing time to grow and develop and, as alumnae, it is our responsibility to ensure the students and sisters who come behind us have an opportunity to excel and flourish," Joy said. "By keeping in touch with the chapter, we can continue to contribute both of our talents and our time." Joy and her husband, Tony Petruccio, reside in Yardley, Pennsylvania. They have four children, Amanda, Anthony, Taylor, and Egan. The family is rather athletic and spends much of their time outside, riding bikes, running 5ks, and volunteering for charities and organizations in their community. Alpha Chi Welcomes Veteran House Director Jerri Huddleston A fter retiring from the corporate world, Jerri Huddleston was hesitant to apply for her first house director position. Following some persuasion from her sister-in-law, who was also a house mother, Jerri finally submitted her application. The rest, she says, is fate. Sixteen years and four chapters later, the original application stemmed into a career in Greek life. Before making Gamma Iota her home, Jerri spent time with chapters at the University of Oklahoma and Southern Methodist University. Following those experiences, she decided it was once again time to retire. However, after just a year in Panama City Beach, she missed interacting with students and returned to a house director role with Gamma Iota in the fall. During her first year at Alpha Chi, Jerri has enjoyed getting to know the undergraduates, as well as working with the alumnae leaders. Having reared two children, she sees the position as an opportunity to relive some of the special memories she shares with her son and daughter. In addition to her role at Alpha Chi, Jerri enjoys traveling. She can be reached at huddlestonjerri@yahoo.com.
