n November 8, Delta Upsilon celebrated its 55th anniversary and Founder's Day. Seventy-
five women, initiated between 1968 and 2010, united to commemorate 55 years of sisterhood.
Activities included a brunch, house and campus tours, a football game, and a celebration in
downtown Springfield.
During brunch, student body president Addison Reed '11 provided us with a university update
speech. Dr. Dee Siscoe '83, Missouri State University vice president of student affairs, delivered
the keynote speech on the positive impact of being a Panhellenic woman. The brunch program also
recognized sisters celebrating 25 years of membership, honored our founders, and highlighted Delta
Upsilon's history at Missouri State.
Delta Upsilon Launches a
New Alumnae Relations Program
I
n 1959, Sigma Kappa Sorority expanded to the Missouri State campus with the addition
of the Delta Upsilon Chapter. Over the past 55 years, Delta Upsilon has proudly initiated
over 1,500 women into the mystic bond. While we will always hold our Sigma Kappa bonds
close to our hearts, we all know how challenging it can be to remain connected with our sisters.
Upon graduating from Missouri State, many new interests—careers, families, and civic
activities—can create valid diversions. The day-to-day activities of life take over and, before
long, we fall out of touch and begin to wonder what happened to our sisters. Without a solid
alumnae relations program in place, our members lack the means for staying connected to the
sorority.
