T he memory of Pi's centennial celebration this past fall is still fresh in our minds. I know many of you reconnected with sisters you hadn't seen in years, possibly even planning another reunion in the near future. I hope you all enjoyed visiting the chapter house, checking out your old room, and reminiscing with your sisters. The chapter house was and still is a special place for so many of us. In the six years since I have been on the House Corporation board, I've seen a complete remodel take shape, increasing the live-in capacity to 68 women, and adding modern heating and cooling (hallelujah) to the entire house. This was followed by projects updating the chapter room to a functional study area, kitchen upgrades, and updates to the card room and foyer. This summer, we will complete the remodel of the tube room, making it a comfortable yet modern space for the members of the chapter to spend time together. At the centennial, I noted that Pi Chapter had reduced its debt on the chapter house following the major remodel by nearly $1 million in just five years. As of the end of February 2015, we have further reduced the mortgage to under $380,000. I want to thank each and every one of you who has made a financial gift to Pi Chapter. Once this mortgage is paid in full, we will be able to focus on further updates to the house and invest for the future. I do hope that you will again consider making a gift to Pi Chapter to help us reach our goal of paying off the mortgage in the next two years. In closing, I hope you enjoy this expanded Slice of Pi issue with pictures from our centennial celebration. You can view additional pictures, as well as the slideshow that was playing during the centennial dinner, at the Pi Chapter website: www.gammaphibetaunl.com. Your generosity is greatly appreciated as we focus on reducing our mortgage debt and providing educational resources to our undergraduate members. The artwork is a Plein Air painting completed by Greg Summers, husband of Susie McConkey '74, in the fall of 2014 and auctioned off to the alumnae during the centennial celebration. This beautiful piece will hang in the living room at the chapter house, so be sure to stop by and see it next time you are in Lincoln.
