Fortunately, undergraduates have responded well and have taken responsibility for their actions. We have 86 upstanding young men that simply need proper guidance and mentorship. They have a solid base that can be built on quickly. This chapter has experienced difficult times in the past and we have always come back bigger, better, and stronger. This situation is no exception. If you have any questions, please reach out to John Kapusky '69 at jjk514@gmail.com. AVC Welcomes New President At the February 2015 Alumni Volunteer Corporation (AVC) monthly meeting, the AVC elected Rick Stepanovic '12 to fill the position of president. We would like to thank John Kapusky '69 for his hard work and dedication not only to the AVC, but also to the chapter and all that he has done for both entities. John's involvement remains high as he continues to serve Michigan Alpha as AVC treasurer and campaign chairman. Rick comes to us with plenty of leadership experience. He was chapter president his sophomore year at Michigan and then he went to the highly regarded Tragos Quest for Greece, a SigEp transformative leadership experience for a selective group of SigEp seniors. After graduation, Rick spent two years working for fraternity staff as a regional director and director of new chapter development. While on fraternity staff and on the road, Rick got to meet and work with some of the best volunteers in the country. Rick is now calling Ann Arbor home again while he attends UM Law School. Rick is honored to be elected by the Michigan Alpha AVC and looks forward to working with the AAC, Mentoring Committee, SigEp National Housing Corporation, and our chapter counselor, Lauren Campbell, to support the undergraduate chapter as it emerges from the crisis stronger than ever before. Volunteering for the AVC In 2015, our top priorities are volunteer recruitment and fundraising. To that end, the AVC voted to add Travis Dittmer, Western Michigan '11, to the AVC board. Travis served as vice president of recruitment at Western Michigan and worked as a regional director after graduation. He also serves on the mentoring committee as recruitment mentor. We hope to continue to bring in talented and diverse volunteers like Travis to build upon the legacy of our volunteers. If you or anyone you know is interested in volunteering on the AVC, particularly in fundraising or organizing a reunion for members from your era, please do not hesitate to contact Rick at rstepano@umich.edu. Still Time to Support Michigan Alpha's Housing Campaign The Pride in Our Past, Foundation for the Future campaign is set at achieving our $1.3 million goal. For those of you who have given generously, we sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You have made this possible. If you are able, please consider extending that pledge another year or making an additional contribution. For those of you who have not given, we appreciate any amount you feel you can give toward this project. Every dollar counts to help us complete our fundraising goal by July 31, 2015. We have $100,000 of tax-deductible giving that can be accepted for the campaign. Remember, donors pledging at least $2,500 will see their names on a plaque permanently displayed in the chapter house. Thank you all for setting the foundation for our chapter. We are dedicated to building on our past success and looking toward our future progress.
