Box 130992 ann arBor, Mi 48113-0992 addreSS Service requeSted Undergraduates Find Success in Academics, Philanthropy, and Recruitment T he brothers of Michigan Alpha have been hard at work to rebuild and push forward in the midst of adversity within the chapter and across the Michigan Greek community. Our executive board attended the Carlson Leadership Academy in Chicago and could not feel more equipped and excited to make some changes to better the future of Michigan Alpha. As always, our members keep academics as a high priority, reaching a 3.3 chapter GPA, exceeding both the IFC average and the all- campus men's average. The new members kept up with the trend of previous years by putting in many hours studying in the library and the chapter room. We are in the process of searching for a faculty fellow to pair with Michigan Alpha and help us achieve even more academic success on campus. We would also like to congratulate brother Jon Minion '17, who was elected in the fall to the IFC executive board as VP of finance—another huge step for SigEp in the Michigan Greek Community. This semester we once again participated in the annual Greek-wide fraternity/sorority broomball tournament known as Winterfest. This year the selected philanthropy was Autism Alliance of Michigan, to which we donated $500. Our biggest philanthropy of the year, however, is for St. Baldrick's Foundation to support research to cure childhood cancers. While our event was held on April 4, your participation is still welcome. To join the team, visit our page at www.stbaldricks. org/events/mypage/2319/2015. We are thankful for each and every person who donates. Recruitment gets better each year as we establish ourselves as a largely influential chapter on campus. Since our membership review in the fall, we've completely revamped our new member development program, turned up the programming to a new level, and taken in ten outstanding new members during the winter recruitment period. Our Balanced Man Program is prepared to develop those new members into successful men and lifelong SigEps. Brothers work to make campus a safer place during the Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center Men's Activism Workshop. leadership in place, the Balanced Man Program is on its way to becoming better than ever. In the wake of many unfortunate and disappointing occurrences in the Michigan Greek community lately, Michigan Alpha is fighting to be different and show the value in fraternities. Most recently, we've partnered with the Sexual Assault Prevention & Awareness Center and hosted a men's activism workshop to educate members about sexual assault and how to prevent it via bystander intervention. We're looking to continue this partnership and make a real impact on the community. Michigan Alpha is more committed than ever to continuous improvement and I expect more milestone accomplishments in the future. I'd like to thank all of our volunteers and alumni for sticking with us through the ups and downs, especially our chapter counselor, Lauren Campbell, and the rest of the AAC for putting so much time into securing our success. Alumni, please stop by the house anytime; we'd love to have you. HHF, Henry Adams '17 Chapter President henadams@umich.edu (602) 403-9301 Benjamin Bergkamp '18 Los Gatos, Calif.
