Is your name on the donor list? UNDERGRADUATES WORKING TO BE BETTER MEN A t the end of fall semester Alpha Gamma Rho Lambda Chapter elected a new executive team. We began the semester by initiating three new brothers, building programs to increase scholastic success, raising money with a new philanthropy event, and building brotherhood through small events. As we reach the halfway point of the semester, Lambda looks to continue making better men. LAMBDA FOCUSES ON ACADEMICS Alpha Gamma Rho was ranked 13 out of 29 fraternities on campus this semester with a 3.16 GPA. This is lower than previous semesters so there have been a few initiatives taken to help improve for the future. There are now study hours held every Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. In addition, all men who earned under a 2.7 GPA must log two study hours a week. This is a third of the number of hours brothers currently on academic probation must log and is meant to act as a safety net for those close to probation. As always, scholarship teams are being implemented in order to improve chapter morale and GPA. ALPHA GAMMA RHODEO A SUCCESS This year our philanthropy took a big step forward. We held a three-day philanthropic event, Alpha Gamma Rhodeo, which raised money for The Movember Foundation. This event consisted of kiss a pig, bingo night, date auction, and the rodeo and pork feed. With all of these events we raised over $2,700 for charity. Since this event was such a success we are looking forward to continuing it for years to come. We also do a blood drive every semester and are trying to extend our philanthropy with new events. BROTHERHOOD STRENGTHENS THROUGH EVENTS On January 14-16, 14 members went on an ice fishing trip to Lake Mille Lacs. They caught numerous fish and were able to catch up after a long break and discuss the direction of the Chapter before the start of the spring semester. On February 20-21, four of the Chapter's leaders attended the AGR Leadership Seminar in Chicago. They met with other AGRs and Sigma Alphas from across the nation and brought back ideas to make Lambda better. On February 27 we played our basketball spittoon game against FarmHouse. Unfortunately, FarmHouse snuck out the victory but we look to getting the Spittoon back in our softball game later this spring. Founder's Day was April 11 at the Ramada and we held Parent's Day on April 26. Thank you to all parents and alumni of Alpha Gamma Rho for everything that you do to help us become better men through this great fraternity.
