Burnam Missouri Alpha Chapter President DJ Buchholz '17 Reflects on Chapter Progression O n behalf of the Missouri Alpha Chapter, I am pleased to express our full support of Proud to Be a Phi – Continuing 150 Years of Tradition. We are committed to what the future holds for Missouri Alpha and take great pride in our history and the reputation our alumni have created for us to uphold. Membership in Phi Delt has been the principle part of all of our college experiences. It has provided us the initial structure we needed to succeed in college and in leadership opportunities and gave us the best friends and times we could hope for. Throughout my time in the chapter, I have seen great improvement in many areas. We are excited about the new alumni relations program helping us communicate our ambition for the future of the chapter. The new alumni tailgates have been huge successes and positive for overall moral for both alumni and the undergraduates. We enjoy building relationships with alumni and are eager to continue with the progression of the campaign. Outside the classroom, members have gone above and beyond. We are proud to boast that we became an Iron Phi Chapter last spring and were second in the nation for raising money for ALS. Last fall we paired with FarmHouse and Pi Beta Phi for Homecoming and placed fifth overall, earning first place in choreography and the blood drive. The biggest accomplishment that I have seen in my time at Phi Delt is pledging 30 men last fall, the largest pledge class since the 1990s. This is a reflection of all the hard work our brothers have completed in pursuit of bettering themselves, the chapter, and the community we live in. The renovations for the chapter house will allow two major things to transpire. First, it will provide members with a state-of-the-art facility to live in, fostering a better atmosphere for members to thrive. Secondly, the renovation will help the chapter be more competitive with the recruitment of new members. Most other MU fraternity houses have recently been updated and this is our chance stay competitive. It is my goal and my brothers' goal to leave this chapter better than when we came. With a renovation the house will be able to fuel brotherhood for years to come. Missouri Alpha is entering a very critical time in our journey, and we realize that your support is invaluable. We want to share our successes with alumni everywhere because they are yours as much as they are ours. Your time, talent, and treasure will be critical as we undergo this transition in hopes of continuing the excellence we have worked so hard to create. I ask that you take the time to reconnect with your brothers in making this house a home for Phi Delt of all generations. Yours In the Bond, DJ Buchholz '17 Chapter President djb27f@mail.missouri.edu Brothers gathered at the alumni tailgate last fall. More than 200 were in attendance. The undergraduates have enjoyed the new alumni tailgates and meeting brothers from all eras.
