The Lyre Letter 2 an organized manner, but more frequent impromptu reunions would be great so it's not so long in between." "I owe so much to Alpha Chi. Going into college, I wasn't a very confident person, but after becoming part of this organization, I've become a stronger, more social person. My self-esteem went up and so did my confidence. We didn't see each other's flaws, and that's what made everyone so special. It was an enlightening experience and helped me realize that I'm worthy of what I want to achieve." Emily and her 12-year-old dachshund/beagle mix, Penny, live in Spangdahlem, Germany. In her down time, she enjoys reading, riding her 2007 Harley, and attending German wine and beer festivals. In January, our VP public relations and marketing, VP philanthropy, and I had the opportunity to go to headquarters in Indianapolis for Leadership Academy. We learned a lot and we're excited to implement new things! On Super Bowl Sunday, we had a fun party at the chapter house. There were a lot of yummy treats, and we made Valentine's Day cards for the Manhattan Crisis Center Inc. We also had our first date party of the semester on February 6. The theme was U and Me from A to Z. We were challenged to dress as something that began with the same letter as our first name. I think this was our most creative date party theme yet; it was a blast! Our advisory and executive boards also got to sneak away on a Saturday to go to KU for Province Day. The day was filled with miscellaneous workshops and it was a quick yet refreshing road trip! On February 14, we held our philanthropy event of the semester, Dodge Domestic Violence, a dodgeball tournament. The Greek community always looks forward to this event, and we enjoy hosting it. Last fall we happily welcomed several new members, and we're also in the process of doing COB, spring informal recruitment. As always, we are looking to recruit women that possess our five membership criteria. If you know of anyone interested, please send us their information. As the semester continues, we're looking forward to Greek Week in April and Mom's Weekend May 1-2. We're excited to see what this semester holds for Gamma Zeta! Loyally, Courtney M.
