Improvements Made to Chapter House to Meet the Needs of Today's Student Alumnae Chapter Established in Manhattan new Alpha Chi Omega alumnae chapter has just been chartered in Manhattan: the Rho Tau Rho Chapter. With the increasing number of alumnae living in the area we are excited about developing new friendships and rediscovering old bonds with sisters. With the proximity to the Gamma Zeta house, this will surely help to strengthen and support the local chapter and to engage Alpha Chi Omega members for a lifetime. If you are located in Manhattan or the surrounding area and are interested in joining the Rho Tau Rho alumnae chapter, please contact Rebecca Spexarth Robinson '05 at (316) 393-0058. Please reach out to any Alpha Chi alumnae you know in the Manhattan area and invite them to join. We look forward to reconnecting! A E mily Day '86 came to Kansas State University and didn't know a soul. She felt that the best way to get involved on campus and at the same time make some new friends was to join a sorority. The recruitment process was a great experience for Emily and, through it all, she found the perfect fit at Alpha Chi Omega. Every member's individuality was apparent; no one fit the mold of a traditional sorority girl. "I couldn't be more proud to be part of the Gamma Zeta sisterhood. The friendships I made have lasted 20+ years. These women are the type of people that if you called them and really needed them, they'd be there for you in a second." A lot of Emily's Alpha Chi sisters played a significant part in her sorority experience, particularly those whom she grew up with in the house. "I think the three women who had the biggest impact on me during that time were Kristi Broadfoot Hay '86, Kristen Baker Earll '86, and Angela Olson Benson '87. We were roommates for several years and during that time had so many fun experiences like family weekends and flag football games." After graduating with a liberal arts degree and a minor in marketing and business, Emily moved to Arizona to be close to family. In an unprecedented move, she went to the largest, most prestigious resort in Scottsdale, handed them her resume, and demanded a job. "I had a marketing minor, so I thought, hey, you need to hire me. Instead they took me on as a security officer. From there, I worked my way up the ranks and eventually became general manager in a commercial hotel. My last commercial job wasn't working out so well, so going through the paper one day, I came across a job installing computer software in hotels. The company eventually got a contract with the Air Force and, after working alongside them for a few years, I was offered a job working directly with their IT team in lodging." "I've worked in the hotel industry for over 20 years and with the Air Force for nearly 13. Nine months ago, I left San Antonio after working for Air Force Inns. I'm now living in Germany and working at the Eifel Arms Inn. I love it over here, but it does take time to adjust to the cold. It's a big change from Texas." Two years ago, Gamma Zeta celebrated its 65th anniversary and Emily made the trip back to Manhattan. "It was great to see so many of my sisters together again. I wish we could get together more often, not necessarily in Emily Day '86 Reflects on Her Gamma Zeta Experience (Continued on page 2)
