Celebrating All That Delta Mu Does and Will Do D elta Mu's new house is now officially dedicated, blessed, and feeling like home! We had a wonderful morning on November 16th as alumnae and actives celebrated A Century of Sisterhood and the generous gifts of so many loyal Tri Deltas. Countless hours and thoughtful, meaningful gifts in memory and honor of family and friends were acknowledged as we toured the beautiful house, admired the naming plaques and donor wall, and enjoyed the wonderful fellowship we always feel when we reconnect with our sisters. During the event, we enjoyed scrapbooks and memories from all three of the Delta Mu houses we have shared over the past 100 years on the UA campus. We had representation from each decade including the '30s as Carolyn Petry Dominick '35 and Sarah Burks Hoover '37 joined us. Mrs. Hoover and her sister, Peggy Burks Abbott '51, brought along the #1 initiate class pin of their mother, Earline Durrett Burks 1914, planning new events to help the Chapter raise over $200,000 for a second year in a row. Delta Delta Delta/St. Jude Leadership Weekend In February, representatives from our Chapter traveled to Memphis, Tennessee, to accept three awards from St. Jude Hospital: Chapter of the Year, Top Fundraising Chapter, and Philanthropy Chairman of the Year awarded to Taylor Lawhon '12. This was a huge honor and we are excited to see what the remainder of the year has in store for us. Parents' Weekend Parents' Weekend was February 7–8. Parents traveled from around the country to be a part of our annual Pansy Breakfast, Open House Brunch, and Saturday night MoTown Band Party. Our brunch was especially fun for parents to see the rooms where the girls live this year and will live next year. Sisterhood Events Our membership development chairman, Anna Wynn Rodgers T he spring has been a busy semester so far for the girls in the Tri Delta House. We have been busy with academics, philanthropy, and many other sisterhood and Chapter events. Strong Academics Tri Delta had an excellent academic semester in the fall with our Chapter earning a GPA of 3.42, which places us fourth of the 18 sororities on campus. We are proud to announce that we had 70 active members achieve 4.0 in the fall. Our academic development chairman, Taylor Roe '13, gives out "smarty panties" awards each week to members who turn in high achieving grades. Jam for St. Jude On February 13th, Delta Mu hosted our second annual Jam for St. Jude event at the Sigma Nu house. We raised over $14,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital all while enjoying the Krispy Kreme donuts and Dunkin Donuts coffee that were donated to the event. On April 1st, we will kick off our letter- writing campaign with music and food at the Tri Delta House. Our philanthropy chairman, Joan Leslie McGill '13, is busy Delta Delta Delta • University of Alabama Spring 2015 The Crescent (Continued on page 6) Spring Busy for Collegians with Philanthropy and Sisterhood Events For more dedication photos, turn to pages 2-3.
