Both the Phikeia class and the chapter as a whole reached their respective goals that ultimately led to a 3.08 all- chapter GPA! For Phi Delta Theta, this moved the chapter from 18th overall to 6th (out of 30 IFC fraternities). The goal for the chapter this spring is a 3.15 GPA. The rise in academic success can be attributed to a more hands-on approach and clearer standards. In the fall, an academic success plan that contained these new methods and standards was implemented. In order to continue the success from the fall, Iowa Gamma will be teaching ways to effectively study and identify potential academic distractions. HOMECOMING ADVENTURES T he members of Phi Delta Theta Iowa Gamma and Chi Omega had a competitive week during Homecoming 2014. We kicked the week off on Sunday afternoon during Yell Like Hell first round cuts, making it onto the second round on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, we did not move on to the final cut to try and defend our Yell Like Hell title from the following year. Phi Delta Theta was also competitive during the annual Homecoming tournaments, placing in several events and making it all the way to the finals in the basketball tournament. Our top event during the week was Lawn Display, which we centered on a Las Vegas theme and Cy had to win back the Iowa State Homecoming traditions! Phi Delta Theta finished third in the competition. Overall, we did not finish where we wanted to, but still had an exciting adventure throughout the week. Phi Delta Theta topped off the weekend enjoying a nice gathering with friends, family, and alumni at a tailgate catered by Ames' own Hickory Park. It was a great opportunity for our new members and actives to enjoy great food with some of Iowa Gamma's finest men. Homecoming this year is on October 31. We are looking forward to an even better Homecoming event in 2015 and will hopefully see you there!
