Mercy knocked off Westwood on the road 25-15, 21-25, 23-25, 28-26, 15-7 to reach their first tile game since a stretch of three in a row from 2000-2002. Mercy will face Champion Christian at Red Bluff Union High School, Saturday at 11 a.m. The Lady Mustangs lost in last year's championship to Fall River. They won section titles in 1999 and from 2002-2005. Red Bluff High plays host to every section championship. Following the Mercy match, Hamilton takes on University Prep at 1 p.m. in the Division-V final. At 3 p.m. Yreka and Willows square off for the D-IV title. Foothill meets Enterprise at 5 p.m. in the D-III championship and Chico plays Shasta at 7 p.m. for the D-II title. Sports Warriors Mercy Champion Christian Mustangs Previous Meetings These teams actually opened up the season against each other way back on Aug. 25 when Champion Christian beat the visiting Lady War- riors 25-19, 25-21, 25-15. They met twice in the same day at the Los Molinos tournament with the Mustangs taking a 26-24, 25-22 win and then Mercy winning 25-19, 25-21. The last match was Champion's only defeat of the season. The Lady Mustangs' volleyball team is led by the power duo of Erin Koslofsky and Andrea Merriman. Both of them average more than 3 kills per game. Shanna Smith is the setter and she's also a quality server as is Koslof- sky and Shaela Tyler. Mercy's strength this season has been their depth and their defensive play. If they convert their offensive chances and serve well the Lady War- riors could bag another section title for the school this calendar year. The one number that does stand out when they throw the ball? The amount of receivers getting involved. Tight end Delanie Walker caught a career-high six passes during last week's 27-20 victory over the New York Giants, becoming the fifth different player in San Francisco's nine games this season to lead the team in receptions. The 49ers rank 29th in the NFL in pass- ing offense and don't have a player ranked higher than 44th among the league leaders in receptions. But the use of diverse targets has become a constant during the seven- game winning streak San Francisco takes into Sunday's game against NFC West rival Arizona. ''Our passing game numbers don't just jump up at you and slap you in the face,'' Walker said Friday. ''But we get the job done. That's why you see what our record is today — a lot of people touching the ball and then having opportunities to make plays.'' The 49ers (8-1) have relied this season on a strong rushing attack led by two-time Pro Bowl running back Frank Gore and have been conservative in the passing game with quarterback Alex Smith, who has been efficient but not prolific. Smith's pass- er rating of 97.3 ranks seventh in the NFL, but he ranks just 23rd in the league in both completions and passing yards. With Gore battling injuries and being limited to zero yards rushing for the first time in his career, the 49ers were forced to rely more on passing against the Giants. That had been the plan entering the game, anyway. Smith spread the ball around as eight San Francisco players finished with at least one catch. The 49ers have tried to get all of their pass catchers involved, and first-year coach Jim Harbaugh said the team doesn't have a go-to receiver this year. ''They all are,'' Harbaugh said. ''That's how we look at it. We have talented players at multiple positions and they know how to get open and catch the rock, and then know what to do with it after they catch it.'' Tight end Vernon Davis and wide receivers Michael Crabtree, Josh Morgan and Ted Ginn Jr. also have led the 49ers in receptions this year, and rookie running backs Kendall Hunter and Bruce Miller have joined Gore as options out of the backfield. The 49ers have been working wideout Braylon Edwards, who missed four games with a knee injury, back into the starting lineup. They have even completed passes this season to left tackle Joe Staley on a tackle-eligible play and 330-pound nose tackle Isaac Sopoaga, who occasionally lines up with the offense at fullback in coor- dinator Greg Roman's system. ''Every week we change it up,'' Walker said. ''Defenses and D-coordinators are try- ing to figure out what we're doing. We can go to everybody. And that's a big part of what's helping Alex out in G-Ro's offense. Nobody's a decoy. Everyone's live, and anyone can get the ball. We're not running guys off. Everybody's trying to get open.'' Davis last year became the first tight end in franchise history to lead the 49ers in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in two consecutive seasons. Davis tops the 49ers this year with 34 receptions, but he has seen constant double coverage from opponents, which has affected his numbers. Seymour misses 2nd straight practice ALAMEDA (AP) — Oakland defensive tackle Richard Seymour missed his second straight practice Friday, leaving him questionable for Sunday's game in Minnesota. Seymour has been hampered by a knee injury and has not practiced since Oakland's 24-17 win in San Diego on Nov. 9. Coach Hue Jackson sounded optimistic earlier this week when asked if Seymour would play against the Vikings but backed off that stance slightly on Friday. ''Obviously (he's) not where we want him yet,'' Jackson said. ''I feel good about it but we've still got to see.'' If Seymour can't play, it would be a huge setback for Oakland's defense. The Raiders are 25th against the run and have the task of trying to slow down Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson, who is third in the NFC in rushing with 846 yards and has 10 touchdowns. Two other starters on Oakland's defense are also ques- tionable. Safety Michael Huff (ankle) was downgraded after suffering a setback while rookie cornerback DeMarcus Van Dyke is still recovering from a hamstring injury. Seymour has been the anchor of the Raiders defensive line since being traded from New England less than two weeks before the 2009 season opener, starting all 38 of the games he's played in for Oakland. This year, Seymour has 24 tackles and is second on the team with five sacks. ''We'll see where we are,'' Jackson said. ''We still have a couple of days left and we'll go from there.'' The news on Huff wasn't as encouraging, though Jack- son is hopeful the safety can play against the Vikings. Huff has been in a walking boot but did not have it on as he walked through the Raiders locker room before boarding the team flight to Minnesota. It isn't much better on offense. Although center Samson Satele and tight end Kevin Boss are probable, Oakland will be without running back Darren McFadden and wide receiver Jacoby Ford. Both are sidelined with foot injuries and have been ruled out for Sun- day's game. Kicker Sebastian Janikowski is also probable after being slowed by a hamstring injury. Division-VI — Championship
